Can anyone think of a reason why Google Search Link Fix works if I add it to a brand new unaltered profile but doesn't work in the existing profile I normally use even if all the other extensions are disabled? I dug through every PM preference and could find nothing that seemed like it would be involved but I have no expertise in this area. Or if anyone knows some other way to remove Google search redirects there's no special reason why I need to use this particular extension.

Version?
PM version?
I put in google-search-link-fix-1.4.9.1-signed.xpi (that I had on hand) in PM 32.3.1x64 into existing Profile (with only uBlock Origin in it) & it looks to work.
Does Browser Console (Ctrl+Shift+J) show anything of relevance in the non-working Profile?
(Maybe clear the Console, load www.google.com, then click a google link & see if anything related is noted in Console.)

Re: Google Search Link Fix works in one profile but not another
32.3.1 64 bit
Win 8.1
Google Search Link Fix 1.5.4
I wouldn't know if anything in the console's relevant or for that matter what any of it means at all so I'll just paste the whole thing. This is with all extensions except Search Fix disabled, go to google.com, searched for wikipedia and clicked on it.

Re: Google Search Link Fix works in one profile but not another
A couple of alternatives that might be worth investigation:carpet wrote:Or if anyone knows some other way to remove Google search redirects...
1. Userscripts. There are a clutch of userscripts, some recent, and a few bookmarklets around online (with a bit of digging) that claim to remove Google search redirects? e.g. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=userscripts+t ... f=y&ia=web
2. Filter lists. AFAICS the couple of filter lists that claim to remove redirects don't load properly into the legacy version of uBlock Origin (uBO) that works with Pale Moon. Perhaps the same or similar 'remove redirect' filter lists will work with Pale Moon's Adblock Latitude... which is "a direct fork of Adblock Plus made specifically for the Pale Moon and Basilisk browsers"?
BTW - Wladimir Palant developed both Adblock Plus and the Google Search Link Fix extension.
