Hi, I am trying to download UBO for Win 11. On the legacy page it says to download 'ublock0.firefox-legacy.xpi' and to right click and select "save link as..." All it gives is an html download not an xpi file. What am I doing wrong ? Tried in safe mdoe but it did the same. Where is the UBO xpi file hiding ?

This link leads directly to the .xpi file.

Thanks for the link. when I travel to that page with win 11 it doesn't load the Assets section, just gives a spinning circle. Maybe one of the Windows security options is blocking it ?
Anyway, it's now working. And thanks to mods for moving me to the correct board.

This should make it easier in the future - uBlock Origin is now available at the Fresco mirror.

The Fresco page has no body. It loads stylesheets and javascripts, but no body content.
To get github to display assets for its extensions, you need to have Palefill installed. Since that is on github, you need to download it from another browser (not gecko or goanna).

You can also right-click on the spinning wheel thingy and select Inspect Element; in the Inspector you can find an URL which you can copy-paste into the address bar and the FTP-like list of assets should display. Click and download what you need.

From the screenshot, the Fresco site is badly made. Its layout shows it does not need scripts, yet it will not display without them.

If you disable JavaScript, the site makes it clear that you need JavaScript for it to work.

Code: Select all

    <body data-loaded="false">
        <noscript>
            This site requires JavaScript.
        </noscript>
    </body>
Some technical details: Fresco uses the GitHub API for nearly every add-on entry, which is why it does not require manual changes if a specific add-on releases a new update. Since it sits on top of GitHub Pages, it cannot use PHP or any other tech that would produce static pages with data from the GitHub API, unless we'd (a) go with the manual route, that is, to manually update each and every page with every add-on update; or (b) host it in a separate, independently-hosted site. This isn't practical and is something that I'm not willing to do for a site that acts as a mirror, which is why I've went with a JS approach in accessing the GitHub API and in building the add-on pages and lists. If you're worried about the site's code, it's completely transparent and available here for everyone to see.
