Halloween Theme outdated

Unread post by lucas_jooj » 2022-07-17, 22:57

Halloween theme https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/halloween/on the add-ons website is not supported on the current browser version. It's a pretty neat theme and would be cool if it was upgraded from being compatible from only to v29 to the latest milestone. Probably the only theme with this issue on the website apart from one that stopped working back on v28

Since the theme is Copyrighted, if I'm correct, only the author "Goodydino" can update it.

Goodydino is still here on this forum last July 5th, so you might want to send a PM or email to them.

Thanks for the info, both of you :thumbup:

I wasn't sure I could message Goodydino already, @jobbautista9, due to my account privileges (I couldn't even open your link as it showed You are not authorized to view the member list or profiles. but I already found his account and contacted him privately via a forum post he made :geek: )

New accounts have these restrictions to prevent spam and sockpuppets. After you've made a few more posts (no idea how many) you will be able to view member lists etc.

Must have been by time after first or second post, I got my account moved to regular registered user from yesterday to today.

Either way, thanks again for the replies, DM'ing the theme creator was all it was needed, now all left is receive a reply. I won't mark the thread as solved already just so I can update it later w/ whatever Goodydino confirms about the theme.

I have no involvement in this theme. You will need to talk to the creator instead.

What needs to be updated, and how would I do that now? I gather that the procedure has changed since I last sent an update. I am still using it and it still works for me.

In order for the theme to install, all you need to do is change the target application information in install.rdf. This is what I am using now:

Code: Select all

    <em:targetApplication>
      <Description>
        <!-- Pale Moon -->
        <em:id>{8de7fcbb-c55c-4fbe-bfc5-fc555c87dbc4}</em:id>
        <em:minVersion>27.0.0b3</em:minVersion>
        <em:maxVersion>32.*</em:maxVersion>
      </Description>
    </em:targetApplication>

    <em:targetApplication>
      <!-- Firefox GUID -->
      <Description>
        <em:id>{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}</em:id>
        <em:minVersion>29.0</em:minVersion>
        <em:maxVersion>32.*</em:maxVersion>
      </Description>
    </em:targetApplication>

That page only goes up to Pale Moon version 28. Do I need to use FireFTP, or something else? I have forgotten how to use FireFTP to connect.

That page is only updated when themes need to be updated. There has not been such changes since then.

The last two commits were made one year ago, that's after the last time your extension was updated. Maybe it's that, and since targetapplication change solved it, seems trivial enough for update on officiall website. But it's not so simple to the point really noobs users like me can fix by themselves :oops:

I managed to login to the Phoebus panel, but I cannot update my theme. It says the slug is not available. How do I update the theme?

Go to "themes" in the panel (top row) and click the icon (second from the left) to "upload a new version of this add-on". I'm guessing you were trying to add a new entry instead of updating?

What top row? All I see in the panel tabs are: Developer, Your Addons, Your Account, and Logout. In the Your Addons page, the only link is "Submit new addon". The other tabs are not helpful. Is there another phoebus site? Have I got the wrong site altogether? The one I have is
https://addons.palemoon.org/panel/
