Anyone willing to target this to Pale Moon version 31?

Re: URL Rewriter by papush
Why does it need to be updated? Seems to be working fine on 31 here.

But why? There's nothing wrong with the extension on 31, it works fine.andyprough wrote: ↑2022-05-31, 16:41I'll be happy to do some forking and updating, including on URL Rewriter,

@Baloo
As long as the user doesn't change the default value for extensions.strictCompatibility, 'max version' shouldn't be an issue.

Re: URL Rewriter by papush
It wouldn't hurt to have an active maintainer though, you know.
Re: URL Rewriter by papush
Good to see that this still works on Pale Moon 31. I think it got disabled when the version numbers of the last few times got jumbled up and I got a bit scared that it would no longer work. I wouldn't mind there being an active maintainer either though....

Re: URL Rewriter by papush
Newly installed - doesn't work for me ("enable" function in drop-down doesn't seem to do anything as well as the add-on options or settings) - basically unable to do anything with the add-on. It seems totally unresponsive as far as I can tell (tried installing twice). I've installed this add-on in the past and found it to at least be functional at that time (as far as using the add-on to create URL redirects).

Re: URL Rewriter by papush
Maybe your redirect rules are malformed. Try this one:
{
"exampleUrl": "https://twitter.com/buitengebieden/status/1582354904269541377",
"includePattern": "*/twitter.com/*",
"excludePattern": "",
"redirectUrl": "$1/nitter.ca/$2",
"patternType": "W",
"unescapeMatches": false,
"escapeMatches": false,
"disabled": false
}
Or post a rule that isn't working for you.

Re: URL Rewriter by papush
I was unable to enter anything - the function/button options for the add-on (to add redirects) were all unresponsive hence unable to add any redirects (installed twice - I had used this add-on some time ago and all functions were responsive at that time so I had been able to add redirects then). I just wanted to try a redirect on a site (NV Energy), but it probably wouldn't have helped anyway.
Thanks for the feedback.

What do you see in the Error console/Browser console while trying to add redirect?Pallid Planetoid wrote: ↑2022-10-19, 15:19the function/button options for the add-on (to add redirects) were all unresponsive.

Re: URL Rewriter by papush
Followup: disabled "butWhyMod" add-on - reinstalled "URL Rewriter".
No errors in the "error console" this time.
But still the "URL Rewriter" remains unresponsive as before (see previous screen-shot).
I figured disabling the add-on that was producing errors and re-installing the "URL Rewriter" (with no errors in the "error console") would have fixed the problem.
But without any errors and still no response clicking on the "URL Rewriter" buttons/functions it appears the errors are irrelevant to the add-on issue --- so I'll just give up on this add-on (like I said, my idea to redirect a page probably wouldn't have helped or even worked anyway).
Thanks for the help.

Re: URL Rewriter by papush
This is strange, because this add-on works for me.
However, it uses jQuery, so there is a lot of code and it is very difficult to understand where the problem arises.

The butWhyMod author is an idiot. I sent him a fix for the terrible UI his extension has (changing the text as well as the state of the checkbox, wtf) and he completely ignored it. Extension authors not respecting the global namespace leads to such conflicts, when they refer to a variable used globally by the browser or that conflicts with other extensions instead of defining everything within a block unique to their extension.

Yeah it was two years since I contacted him, was surprised to get a reply saying he will fix it but after that nothing.
At any rate, you don't need this extension when uBlock Origin can easily do the same with proper filter lists.

Re: URL Rewriter by papush
Your frustrations are understandable (and agree that the add-on dev is not very responsible), but that said, this "conflict with other extensions" as you refer to it, has nothing to do with the problem I'm having - see: viewtopic.php?f=46&t=28422&e=1&view=unread#p233172 (two posts above yours).moonbat wrote: ↑2022-10-20, 00:03The butWhyMod author is an idiot. He did fix it. Here's the link to the xpi download page, have to click the download button to actually download the extension.
