Is Flash still supported?
Hello, I am having trouble playing Flash games and I was wondering if it has been disabled. If not, can anyone help me enable it?
Re: Is Flash still supported?
It should work as long as you don't have one of the self-destructing versions of it. What version you got?
Re: Is Flash still supported?
Use version 31.0.0.122.
Works great in pale moon.

Re: Is Flash still supported?
Flash is no longer supported by Adobe and could have security flaws that would be exploited down the line.
We continue to support NPAPI technology and have no plans to ever remove it. However the following will take place eventually:
1. Plugins will be disabled globally by default across all applications and OS targets. Which you can simply flip a pref for.
2. On GTK3 builds the dependancy on GTK2 components will be controlled by a build time configuration flag that by default will not build or depend on GTK2. Which means GTK3 builds will loose the capability to use GTK2 NPAPI plugins unless specifically built to. This is because distros are not going to provide GTK2 forever. System Packagers and roll-your-own builders will be free enable the configure flag or just build it as GTK2 as long as their distros still provide it but the generic builds we provide will not target this configuration. GTK3 NPAPI plugins, if any, will be unaffected.

Re: Is Flash still supported?
It's a simple security consideration. Plugins on the whole are not maintained by their vendors at this point so it's good practice not to enable them by default for everyone. Especially since most plugins will be system-installed and automatically picked up, it won't be a conscious decision by users to install them "in the browser" in most cases.moonbat wrote: ↑2021-10-14, 06:26But why?New Tobin Paradigm wrote: ↑2021-10-14, 02:36Plugins will be disabled globally by default across all applications and OS targets
If you purposefully install plugins, you can easily enable them, as said.

Re: Is Flash still supported?
We love NPAPI and hope one day the tide will turn the other way and plugin technology will make some sort of come back either globally or as an active alternative again. For now we have to plan and make the best decisions in service of users on the reality right now but keeping an eye on the hope and possibilities of the future.
An explicit choice to keep it enabled by those that still rely on them will give them an opportunity to evaluate that their need is still valid but will also protect those that have no current need.

Makes sense, thanks.
