Broken addons compatibility in new Pale Moon

Unread post by uzver » 2021-07-30, 13:01

Hi Pale Moon dev.
Your addon "Print pages to PDF" doesn't works any more.
And a lot of them from CA archive: https://github.com/JustOff/ca-archive/issues/98
Is there any chance to get them works again?
Do you have any plans to continue to wiping compatibility?

Anything on CAA is a no go.
Please search the forum, this has happened a few months ago.
If you really need a certain extension to be up to date, you might want to get in touch with someone with the knowledge to work on XUL extensions and ask them to help you.

Well it's not "my" add-on. It was created by someone else.

That archive contains legacy Firefox add-ons. Not Pale Moon add-ons (although -some- may target us most won't).

Nope! The compatibility is gone, so can't go any further than "no compatibility" ;-)

Also, you could have been informed about all this easily from the add-ons manager page inside your browser.

Does anyone know what the latest release that supports CAA addons is?

It's called Basilisk and made by the same developers. SInce you want a browser that's essentially Firefox frozen forever (and even Basilisk doesn't qualify as that) - that's what you're better off using.

For now.
Basilisk was created primarily as a UXP reference and platform development application. Since we're pretty much solid on the platform now, Basilisk's future may look different than what you might think it would remain.

Unfortunately for you, we also don't support old and known-vulnerable versions of the browser.

This user's post history indicates a complete resistance to move forward and participation in incompatible extensions for years.

Doesn't really matter to me. My response will be the same no matter how long they nag.

I tested several of last releases, and looks like the last, which works with CA archive, is 29.1.1

It's literally in the release notes.
Anyway, unless you keep using that version forever (good luck with that!) it won't change that you need to fork or rewrite anything you need, going forward.

29.1.1 is old and insecure and out of support. You are not entitled to support if you continue to use old versions.

Since you aren't entitled to support you aren't a real user just another non-entitiy that doesn't matter in the scope of Pale Moon. May as well be a Chrome, Firefox, Waterfox, or XP user. You are, however, entitled to me harrassing you until you either upgrade to a supported version or go away forever and take no further action against us.

Since you are obviously stupid, can't read let alone think critically, and won't listen to anything legit users are telling you.. I suppose neither is gonna happen.

Yay more work for me.
