Load Tab on Select 0.5.8.1

Unread post by LAR Grizzly » 2021-05-02, 18:45

I have one old FX extension left, that I would like to find an alternative to. It's "Load Tab on Select 0.5.8.1". The Classic Add-ons Archive address is: caa:addon/load-tab-on-select. I rummaged through the PM Add-ons Site, but was unable to locate a replacement. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I think you need to adjust your workflow slightly. There are few add-ons that do this, but instead add-ons like Suspender that suspend tabs after a period of time.

I have a bookmark folder with several YouTube bookmarks in it. I middle click on the folder to open all of the tabs without having to click each one individually. Load Tab on Select keeps the tabs from fully loading until I click on them individually. There is a setting in PMs tab preferences called "Don't load tabs until selected", but this doesn't do the trick. If you know of a PM extension that will accomplish this, I would appreciate a link.

Considering the very ... "unique" workflow of wanting to open-yet-not-open many bookmarks at once, I think you should fork this one yourself if you don't want to change the way you do this. Sounds like a fairly simple extension that won't require much maintenance so perfect for an extension newbie.
Other alternative is adjusting your workflow and using bookmarks only when you actually want to open the page (i.e. shift your tab clicking to bookmark clicking).

I usually use the Bookmarks dropdown from the Menu Bar. I guess I could open the Bookmarks Sidebar and shift my clicking to bookmarks instead of unloaded tabs. Just a small adjustment in my behavior. Thanks for the tip.
