Redirector addon for PaleMoon 29.2.0+

Hi all!
I was using Redirector 3.0.4 for PaleMoon 29.1.1-.
Got it from here: https://github.com/einaregilsson/Redire ... 0d26c1ee5a
Did "jpm xpi" to get a redirector.xpi and used it ignoring warning message in palemoon.

The 29.2.0 released and it stopped working. So what I did for attempting to fix it?

1. Added install.rdf file
2. Run "jpm xpi"
3. Installed redirector.xpi and restarted

Result: it does not work.

Where did I get install.rdf file? I cloned last existing install.rdf file from original repository.

Here is another option, I tried. I tried to install 2.9.3 version from https://github.com/einaregilsson/Redire ... eeac3d35ec
Modified install.rdf (added palemoon as targetApplication), installed and restarted.
I could go to control panel, but buttons do not work.

Then I gave up. I don't have time to learn XUL or something to figure out how to fix or how to rewrite it.
So, we (me and other redirector users) are looking for maintainer, that would make redirector addon to work.

Btw, someone asked Einar Egilsson to make Pale Moon version of it. It seems that he does not plan to make it: https://github.com/einaregilsson/Redirector/issues/108

For info, this link goes to a 404 page for me.

Version 3.0.4 is available from CAA, including file install.rdf. It installs and appears to work after editing to include the PM GUID.

It's also possible to get varous versions (including 2.9.3, the last non-jetpack) from the Wayback Machine, such as here.

Result: it does not work.

I don't have personal experience with Redirector. But I recollect there is a thread that discusses how to fix it. The discussion was last active a year ago, but perhaps it will still be helpful.

I downloaded from https://web.archive.org/web/20170906035 ... e043eab841 and edited install.rdf to add palemoon there.

Btw, I payed attention, that install.rdf from author's git repo is missing for 3.0.4, but it exists in archived repo.

I tried it. Edited install.rdf, extension is installed but nothing works in its control panel. Buttons do nothing over there.

Recently we accepted a fork of this, URL Rewriter onto the site. I mention this seemingly in lieu of the author doing so given the demand.

Hi, i installed URL Rewriter, but not find option for put icon on top of window. Enable/disable.

I use Pale Moon with status bar hidden and URL Rewriter put the icon in the status bar.

It is inconsistent whenever you want to activate or deactivate redirect having to open and close the status bar.
Some way that add the icon above in the window?

Open the toolbar customization dialog (View->Toolbars->Customize) and then while it is open drag the button to wherever you want on the statusbar or the top toolbars. It's not something the extension developer needs to do.

Background reiteration: Rarely does any extension use a proper status bar item anymore. Keep in mind the Pale Moon's "Status Bar" is one in name only as the development history of the Firefox UI and established precedent in this project shows it is just the Firefox 4-28 Add-on Bar with built in customizable status bar components wrapped in toolbar items.

The only element you can't move is the overlay target and child elements for traditional status bar items provided by older extensions.

So in reality it is a normal customizable toolbar with just the one fixed element just like the Firefox 4-28 Tab bar.

The extension's APMO page lists a support email address that seems how he prefers to be contacted.

(Looking through this thread, and the above-linked page, I doubt he planned to use the forum for support requests.)

Hi, the author of URL Rewriter has updated to v 2.8.4 and solved the button function, now it can be dragged, activated, deactivated and configured outside the status bar.
