Close n Forget extension disables PM statusbar links popup

Post by ubersurfer » 2011-11-03, 04:50

I've been using PM portable with the Close n Forget extension for quite some time. Effective with PM version 7.0.1, the PM statusbar links popup does not work when the Close n Forget extension is enabled. PM 7.0 and lower have no issues with the add-on. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix? How about a Close n Forget alternative?

There is no real difference in the code between 7.0 and 7.0.1 - so this sounds like a strange error to me.
I'll have a look at it later today, see if I can reproduce the problem on my end.
In the meantime, I suggest you try resetting the statusbar add-on by following the instructions found at:

Thanks for the resetting the statusbar tip. It didn't work, but I appreciate the reply.

I've tested the extension on Pale Moon Portable 7.0.1 - and there are 0 conflicts that I can see. Link-over displays properly in the status bar, so does all other status info. I'm not entirely sure what the problem would be; can you please give an exact description of your situation? i.e.: O.S., 32-bit or 64-bit Pale Moon, are you using a custom theme and if so, which? what add-ons do you have installed other than click'n forget & the pale moon status bar?

I employ a good number of extensions on my Win7 x86 laptop. On your suggestion, I disabled all of them, then enabled Close n Forget. It worked. I enabled my other extensions one-by-one to see which, if any, when running along side CnF would cause the links popup to fail. Oddly enough, the culprit turned out to be PM Status Bar. With PM Status Bar and CnF are both running, I get no popup when I hover a link. When PMSB is disabled, the links popup and CnF work as they should. Was there any change in the PMSB code between 7.0 and 7.0.1? I'm just as baffled as you are.

BTW: Your assistance is admirable. Thank you.

Can you double-check that you have the status bar add-on set up to show links as a pop-up? By default it will show the links in the status bar (hence the name) and if you have the statusbar/addonbar hidden, it will, of course, not show anything. If you disable the Pale Moon status bar add-on, the default (nonconfigurable, always-on) Firefox popup will show.

FYI: PM 8.0 does not have this problem. All is well now in that regard. Thanks for your assistance.
