Custom Search Engine Extension for Pale Moon?

Unread post by Firefairy » 2019-01-19, 04:41

I am wondering if there is an equivalent to these addons for Pale Moon, or if one or another version of these will work. (It's getting harder to just check, since I am not having Pale Moon spoof as Firefox; it's hard to convince the world Pale Moon is getting traction if we are all being counted as out-of-date Firefox users.)

Basically, these let you take any site with a search box, and if you can figure out how to configure a query that the server will respond correctly to, use that as a custom entry in the search box in FF. I would like something similar for Pale Moon. Does this already exist, and I am missing it?

There's this:
https://addons.palemoon.org/search-plugins/

And if what you want isn't there, visit that site and choose "Add [site]" from the search box dropdown menu.

There is an extension, 'Add to Search Bar 2.9' that can be added easily if you have the
Classic Add-ons Archive installed. It can also be found at:
http://legacycollector.org/firefox-addons/3682/index.html.

After installing you should be able to do something like this:

Cool. I discovered that some sites, I can add using the command in the Search Bar dropdown, but some sites I can't. Not sure what the differences are under the hood that cause it, but I am looking forward to seeing if Add to Search Bar can see them as potential search plugins or not.

Thank you to both of you for the replies!

Edit: The Add to Search Bar addon was able to add the sites that the main option didn't recognize, so that is a full fix for me. :D
