With the PM v28.3.0 update, Bamboo Feed Reader crashes

Unread post by rd14407 » 2019-01-16, 02:53

Tonight I did the suggested Pale Moon v28.3.0 update, but trying to go into the Bamboo Feed Reader, what I've been using for RSS for quite a while, crashes Pale Moon.

Do I need to find a new RSS feed reader, or is this something that will be fixed soon?

I had used Sage reader from Pale Moon Add-ons site before and only installed Bamboo now for a quick check in PM 28.3.0 (x32, Win7).
With not many feeds added, no crash occured here.

Bamboo still works for me, thankfully. (Using the Linux 64 bit version of PM 28.3.0.)

But just in case I made an export of my feeds today… (Already lost them once because Bamboo by default saves them in a *cache* directory on Linux… sigh…)

Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit
Browser version: 28.3.0 (32-bit)

Problem: Upon going into the Bamboo Feed Reader 2.3.2, that I've been using for a long time, while updating Pale Moon every time its offered, last night after the update, it crashes/hangs with this message:

Pale Moon web browser has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Please close the program.

Per the NirSoft tools, it is actually a hang, so the WhatIsHang report is attached at the bottom of the post.

Try excluding Pale Moon's application folder from VIPRE

Tried that, and even turning off the so-called "Advanced Active Protection" didn't help, so went back to v28.2.2.

I also spent a few minutes looking around the forum and noticed others having similar problems with this the v28.3.0 update, so will watch for a while.

Seeing your advice in another section of the forum to "in about:config in 28.3.0, set dom.intersectionobservers.enabled to false" I did that, and Bamboo Feed Reader does not crash any more.

well in that case the unstable channel should also fix it, as will the upcoming point release and later.

So now that I have the v28.3.1 update, should I go back and change the setting of dom.intersectionobserver.enabled?

The suggested update didn't work, something about the patch not working, and said to download and install myself, which I did.

So how is that setting "supposed to" be now?

Answered my own question - putting it "back" crashed Bamboo again.

So I guess we are to leave it set to "false" is how it needs to be.
