Problem with 1Password

Unread post by Churchland » 2013-02-24, 10:43

I really like Pale Moon, but I can't get the 1Password extension to work properly. It installs, but I get a red exclamation point and then it says "connecting" and just counts endlessly.

I'm using Pale Moon 64, but it does the same with the 32 bit version.

Any one else get this to work?

Welcome to the forum! :) 1Password is a "paid for" App so it would seem worthwhile asking for some support? The developers seem to be keen to hear from their users: http://help.agilebits.com/1Password_Win ... ntact.html A post and a look through the dedicated "Support forum for 1Password for Windows": http://discussions.agilebits.com/catego ... windows/p2 can't hurt? There is a recommended sequence in 1Password's User Guide "Troubleshooting browser extensions" for tackling the "persistent red badge" problem. (Also from 1Password's Requirements page it would appear this App does not support 64-bit browsers?)

Quick look in Support forum for 1Password for Windows finds:

i) Your "red exclamation point and then it says "connecting" and just counts endlessly" problem appears as "Chrome helper shows red exclamation mark and keeps saying Connecting" topic: http://discussions.agilebits.com/discus ... connecting which then morphs into a Firefox answer at comment #4 and seems to relate to "OnePassword.sqlite" file. Quite a popular thread!

ii) Recent "Firefox not connecting with 1.0.9.317" topic: http://discussions.agilebits.com/discus ... -1-0-9-317 links to this guide: "Clear the stale 1Password database in Firefox" https://mikhailt.clarify-it.com/d/windows_firefox_db about same "OnePassword.sqlite" file.

I have had no success in getting 1Password to work with Pale Moon. I figured I'd try first with the 32-bit PM. I could do nothing until I uninstalled the 1PW extension in Firefox. I then tried again to get it to install in Pale Moon. This time, it said it was installing and then said it was installed. And indeed it's listed in Pale Moon's add-ons. But there's no way to summon up 1 PW the way one does in Firefox. There's nothing in the system tray, nothing that can be added to a toolbar via Customize, nada. Frankly, I'm perfectly happy going back to LastPass, with which I've had no trouble, but for various reasons I thought I'd give 1PW a try. I'm not optimistic about their changing any time soon. People have asked for some time for 1PW to work with the Opera browser, and nothing has been done.

It seems that 1 Password's documentation may not be up to date. A recent posting in their forum said that they now work with 64-bit Firefox. Also, in parts of the documentation they talk about working with iOS but not with Android, but apparently they do now work with Android.
