addons for VPN

Unread post by user-since-3 » 2018-11-12, 04:21

I see that there are no VPN extensions available on Pale Moon.
Is there a way to get a VPN extension that was developed for FireFox to work with PaleMoon? If not a current version, for a prior version of FireFox and if so how far back would back in FireFox versions ?
Or could an old version of PaleMoon be made to work with a FireFox extension?

Most "VPN extensions" are WebExtensions which we do not support. We have no intention of supporting WebExtensions (see our roadmap and other posts on the forum).

Also, any true VPN does not need a browser extension to operate; if it does, then the "VPN" is pretty much just a glorified proxy server and not an actual VPN, with all the attached consequences and risks.

stop saying that already. there are times a user wants the browser to be going through a particular proxy and not other applications.
which version is the last one that supported WebExtensions?

I will stop saying it when people stop making incorrect assumptions about VPNs

Then what you should do is set the proxy in Preferenced -> Advanced -> Connection [Settings]
You don't need an extension to do that.

Web Extensions have never been supported by Pale Moon and will never be supported by Pale Moon.

Such hostility and resistance against simple facts and truths on how things actually are...

Normally, I would suggest the user better educate them selves but given what has preceded this post it seems all they are willing to do is the equivalent of sitting cross armed and holding their breath like a five year old until they get their way.

I would suggest instead that we walk away and focus on other matters like creating the future. Nothing to see here folks.
