Re: Pale Moon 28: Completely buggy and unstable
What happens if you install the 64 Bit portable instead of the 32 bit?
Do you have some kind of invasive Firewall or Antivirus/Sandbox installed which could interfere with Pale Moon 28 in some kind of way?

Or do you have some Laptop/other machine with a 64 bit operating system version where you can try out the portable?tor000 wrote:I've Windows 7 32bit. See my signature.

Incorrect.Sajadi wrote:Not that important. Pale Moon 64 Bit can also run on 32 Bit if i am not mistaken. Try out how the 64 Bit variant runs of the portable.tor000 wrote:I've Windows 7 32bit. See my signature.
64-bit Pale Moon requires a 64-bit operating system.
32-bit Pale Moon however can run on both thanks to Windows' catering to 32-bit binaries on 64-bit operating systems.

Sorry, got confused with another posting on the board - which was leading me to the conclusion that it also would be possible.Moonchild wrote:Incorrect.

Re: Pale Moon 28: Completely buggy and unstable
I checked same sites without any extension enabled - it comes with the same bug. Especially on Facebook (agent name override for Facebook remained untouched as it came out of the box). It looks like browser hangs totally (including panel and menu rendering) when it waits for slow responding web resource. Sometimes it unhangs, sometimes hangs unresponding forever. Even on browser close button - it closes the window, but not the process.
It always occupy 100% of 1 processor core, even when close button pressed, and afterall the Palemoon process is being thrown out by Windows timeout with werFault message dialog. So it has nothing to extensions, it's behaviour is inside of 28th Palemoon. It looks like JavaScript engine has thread lock with the native GUI renderer.
Windows 7 x86, Processor Intel Core Duo T2400.
PS. This topic is offtop for extensions branch of the forum.

PM27.x is not the same as PM28.x -- you cannot assume extensions will work in PM28 just because they worked in PM27....tor000 wrote:These problem aren't happens with PM 27.9.4, but only on PM 28.0.0, so this can't be one of the extensions. Until now, I didn't experience conflicting between extensions....
... I am using 41 active extensions with PM28 (including the "dreaded" NoScript that is allegedly so terribly problematic of which I have no problems) and do not have any of your issues but that is not to say you will get the same result depending upon the extensions that you are using. It is just a matter of determining which of the extension(s) you are using that could be causing problems for you.
Have you tried "Safe Mode"?
Have you tried a "fresh" Profile?
You need to do one or the other or both if necessary to help resolve your problem.

Re: Pale Moon 28: Completely buggy and unstable
I didn't encounter any problems with PM 28 as yet.
Whatever your personal experience might be - generalizing that it is "completely buggy and unstable" is an overstatement, to say the least.
On my Win7 x64bit the video plays fine.

Re: Pale Moon 28: Completely buggy and unstable
You played the video at SD. Try playing it at FHD, and see the problems. I played this video at FHD and it reloaded the video several times until it gave a black screen with an error message. Disabling hardware acceleration, and playing this video again in FHD, resulted in PM 28 portable immediate crash, and I used a clean profile within it, and I don't expects that if I would upgrade my stationary PM 27.9.4, to 28, these problems won't occur.
Update: Trying to view videos directly in Youtube: The first works OK, but the second make PM to consume lot of CPU and often the picture freeze and the website stops responding, and PM portable 28 looks as if it about to crash.

Re: Pale Moon 28: Completely buggy and unstable
No problem for me to watch in full screen.
Generally speaking,
keep in mind please that hardware specs can also have a serious impact.
It's impossible to make software that will run equally good on older and newer hardware.
Devs are damned to target modern hardware if they don't wont to lose competition with the mainstream.
Therefore every new browser release might eat up more resources in order to keep up with newer demands imposed by the competition.
BTW, does this video play fine for you with Firefox 52.9.0 ESR or newer?
For more convenience, you could test with a portable edition.

Re: Pale Moon 28: Completely buggy and unstable
The video works OK with my Firefox Portable 61.0.2, and it don't have any problems to play multiple videos like PM 28 have. However Firefox Portable 61.0.2, have trouble sometimes to play videos at 1080p60hz.
Generally Firefox Portable 61.0.2 and the installer version of it, works with hungry resources websites better than even Pale Moon 27.9.4.

Upgraded PM portable to version 28.0.0.1:
Also, PM portable 28.0.0.1 still have slow responding, stops responding often, and behaves like it is about to crash:

Try disabling hardware acceleration.

Disabled hardware acceleration: Don't helps:
After this, Pale Moon portable 28.0.0.1 stopped responding for few min, and when searched for Youtube in DuckDuckGo:
Again, fresh and clean PM portable 28.0.0.1.
Note: The rest Pale Moon buttons in the right, are of the stationary Pale Moon 27.9.4, and aren't related, in any way, to Pale Moon Portable 28.0.0.1.

@ tor000
I'm just curious.
Concerning YouTube, are you using the old "classic" YT interface or are you using the "new" YT interface? I'm guessing when you're using YT, you're using the old classic interface and this might be the problem because I've seen the old classic interface cause problems. Just a guess on my part though.
I'm using the new YT interface and I have no problems with YT using 32 bit Pale Moon 28.0.0.0 running in 64 bit Windows 7 (Home Premium SP1 on this 8 year old desktop tower computer).

PM portable 28.0.0.1 opens the classic Youtube interface.

Graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 220
Memory: Kingston DDR3-SDRAM 4GB

Pale Moon 27.9.4 and Firefox Portable, both don't have any problems.
Update: Completely deleted my profile in my PM portable 28.0.0.1, than entering Youtube. In the first video, it worked smooth. In the second video:
