I have both CYS, the very old Download Youtube Videos as MP4 extension, and NetVideoHunter, and all can't download from Youtube, either don't download at all, or creates empty MP4 files.
What I can do right now?

I would disable no script and try again. I use netvideohunter and it works just fine on the latest PM with W7 64bit

YouTube is a video streaming service, not a video downloading hub. One of the reasons MSE has been pushed is to make it more difficult to download videos that you have no rights to copy to your drive.
Considering downloading is against YouTube's terms of service and content rights, we can't officially provide any support for it.

But, to credit Google, YouTube hasn't shoved EME down our throats for user-generated content. If that occurs, then I'm more likely to make my own platform for my videos, if not an ad-hoc one!

Currently I like ensavefrom.net. You can use that web service in two ways:
(1) with the URL of the youtube video entered, simply put the cursor between the dot and the /y/ and enter the two letters /ss/; for instance,
http://www.youtube/sampleURL becomes
http://www.ssyoutube.com/sampleURL. That will take you to a en.savefrom.net page that lets you download the video. In the new page that loads, click on the link that says Download Video in Browser.
(2) you can load the youtube video, and then click on a bookmarlet that can be installed on your toolbar or in your bookmarks menu. Once the new page loads, click on that same link as above. Here is the page with teh bookmarklet:
https://en.savefrom.net/user_tools.php
For those who try to install as few addons as possible, either of these solutions are nice because nothing is installed (although of course the download page encourages you to install one).

... YET!
Honestly, think about it... what will stop Google from using EME on YouTube when it is present in all mainstream browsers in the Widevine way (as it pretty much is now?) For most of the end-users there will hardly be a difference.

For now, you just have to disable MSE in Pale Moon to be able to download 720P Youtube videos. Just make then a right click on the video and save it
Also there are tons of download pages around where you just have to enter the Youtube video link and then you can save either the music in different formats or the video itself in different formats and resolutions. Sadly not in 1080P as that was locked by Google.
So, no reason at all for an add-on

Off-topic:
Interesting to see this old problem of copyrighted content being protected creeping into the internet era.I own and sometimes still use a commodore amiga 500 computer and it was this very practice of copying protected disks which ultimately killed it as the top computer and this with you-tube seems to be a sort of history repeating itself and it would not surprise me if google procedes to charge for youtube in years to come.
