Re: ViewImage for Google Image Search script
The script (and add-on) is (are) supposed to re-add the button that lets you see the image on its own, not in the page, without having to inspect element or anything.
Re: ViewImage for Google Image Search script
^ And without having to load the (likely bloated) website every time just to see the larger version of the image.

Re: ViewImage for Google Image Search script
I use this script from trlkly, works fine.
(it's a fork of the userscript version of "make-gis-great-again".)
And I just now tried the script suggested by nicolaasjan, it also worked fine.

Re: ViewImage for Google Image Search script
I'm not sure I want to install Greasemonkey just to run this script. Seems like when I installed it in the past, it slowed things down.? Seems like someone would just put the updated script in an addon.

Re: ViewImage for Google Image Search script
I just updated my PR for the XUL version of this add-on. Hopefully bijij will accept it and provide an official XUL release.

Thank you.Isengrim wrote:I just updated my PR for the XUL version of this add-on. Hopefully bijij will accept it and provide an official XUL release.
Will you post here if it's available? I'm not a coder and some of the github content is kind of confusing to me. I only know to check the releases page for the newest version.
Example of that, V2 (Webext) is on ABO, but on https://github.com/bijij/ViewImage , when I click on releases, the newest is 1.7.2 from Feb. Why?
So if there's a new XUL version I don't even know if it'll show up there.
Re: ViewImage for Google Image Search script
I tried an image search with Startpage, and got a lot more images. I searched for Apollo, just to test.
Re: ViewImage for Google Image Search script
I'm not sure why the 2.0 Chrome extension isn't up on GitHub yet. I can only assume that if the maintainer does accept the updates the XUL extension, it will be there, but it's really up to them.Brian wrote:when I click on releases, the newest is 1.7.2 from Feb. Why?

So do you have a working version? Can we just get it from you?Isengrim wrote:I'm not sure why the 2.0 Chrome extension isn't up on GitHub yet. Re: ViewImage for Google Image Search script
I've tested Ascrod's xul branch and it appears to work.Brian wrote:So do you have a working version? Can we just get it from you?
This is probably NOT recommended unless you know what you're doing but the
following SHOULD work (did for me on Linux):
Go to:
https://github.com/Ascrod/ViewImage/tree/xul
Select "Clone or download" on the right (green button).
Select "Download ZIP" from the dropdown.
Once you've done that, rename the zip:
viewimage@bijij.me.xpi
Place the zip (now xpi) in your PM profile's "extensions" directory.
Finally, restart the profile.
In the event your OS and file system don't show you file extensions ("zip"
etc), search the Internet first for how to rectify that before doing the above.

I am Ascrod.
And yeah, that'll work. But as I think I've said before, I'd rather let the original author maintain the releases, assuming they are willing to do so, since it isn't difficult to do.

No.Isengrim wrote:that'll work.
Pale Moon detects is as being corrupt.
At least under Windows.
Re: ViewImage for Google Image Search script
Unzip, move everything out of the root folder, then rezip. Also make sure you download the xul branch and not the chrome branch.Tomaso wrote:No.Isengrim wrote:that'll work.

Re: ViewImage for Google Image Search script
Yes, there was a root folder that caused the problem. :)Isengrim wrote:Unzip, move everything out of the root folder, then rezip.
Re: ViewImage for Google Image Search script
Those of you that still use Google for image searching should also check out this extension:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addo ... d.1-signed
It adds Google's reverse image search to the right-click menu.
This comes very handy combined with View Image.
Although, I try to limit my Google usage as much as possible.

Re: ViewImage for Google Image Search script
Can you explain exactly what you mean? I've tried a couple different things of what I think you mean, but it's still not working.Isengrim wrote: move everything out of the root folder
I did open the zip, and copy everything out of the ViewImage-xul folder and rezipped those folders/files that were in ViewImage-xul as an xpi.
Re: ViewImage for Google Image Search script
Make sure that you use ZIP legacy compression.
That's the only one that will work.

Got it. Thanks.Tomaso wrote:Make sure that you use ZIP legacy compression.

Another reason for needing this extension is sometimes if you click on the image and are taken to the website, but the picture isn't there because it's buried on older pages, as I was trying to do the other day but couldn't find the image anywhere.
Re: ViewImage for Google Image Search script
Downloaded the last XPI version 1.2 of ViewImage, don't works at all. In Firefox, the last webextension version works well.
Re: ViewImage for Google Image Search script
The previous posts explains how to get Isengrim's v1.3, which works just fine.tor000 wrote:Downloaded the last XPI version 1.2 of ViewImage, don't works at all.
