Active Stop Button Extension

Unread post by Suetonius » 2018-02-21, 00:28

The addon "Active Stop Button" doesn't install properly in Pale Moon 27.7.2 (Mypal release), Pale Moon 26.5.0 and Firefox 52.6esr. No context menu entry, no toolbar button appears. In Pale Moon a nonfunctional "Zero Space" button is installed. Clicking on gifs doesn't work too. Only the ESC button works. I've tested this in multiple profiles and on different partitions. Hope it can be solved. The developer said there were no problems in both browsers. I can't confirm that. Is there anyone else having the same problem? Anyway, some help were great! Thanks in advance :coffee:

OS: Windows XP Professional 32 Bit, CPU: Intel Pentium 4 Northwood Single Core, GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 6800

This doesn't really answer your question, but you don't need an add-on to stop animated gifs in Pale Moon. Just press Shift+Esc.

This add-on does not add any new buttons or context menu entries, it just splits Stop and Reload buttons apart and changes the behavior of the native Stop button and the Stop item in the context menu, so that they become always enabled/active.

In Pale Moon a nonfunctional "Zero Space" button is installed.
This button is used as an invisible separator (it's visible only in the customize mode) to undock the Stop and Reload buttons from the address bar, if you want to place them on the right.

Don't click on gifs, use the Stop button or the one from the context menu ;)

Hi, thanks for your quick help! I am a fool. I completely misunderstood the usage of your extension. Sorry for that! . Your addon is great and works as expected. As a matter of course I have corrected my rating at addons.mozilla.org. Is there an option to stop all animation by default? :?: But first of all thanks a lot for clarifying and for your excellent support! :coffee:

Obviously, the description of this extension on AMO is far from ideal, since similar questions arise regularly. Apparently 12 years ago, when this extension was created, my English was even worse than now ;) Thank you for updating the rating.

You can tune how the browser handles animated gif using the image.animation_mode preference in about:config.

I think you should bring the extension to our Add-ons Site.. Seems to be getting closer to time.

Love this extensions.

So what all does this extension do? :?: Its website seem to say that it only stops animated gifs. At least I didn't get anything more than that.
