how to block ALL ads

Unread post by SuzLee01 » 2017-12-24, 15:06

I am new to pale moon, and did see that i have to have ad block latitude for some reason instead of ad block plus.

But I just see lists for filters, how do I block all or at least most ads? I really miss ad block plus

Pale Moon is not Firefox, so not all add-ons are compatible between the two browsers. With that said, ABL should work just the same as ABP. The last time I looked at them, they looked identical. How did you configure ABP? Do the same for ABL.

WebExtension Adblock Plus functions like Chrome Adblock Plus because that is what it is so the UI is different.

Adblock Latitude functions like the last true Adblock Plus for Firefox used to.

ABL Icon on the statusbar > Filter preferences > Add filter subscription > Pick something from the drop down box..

Yes. I know that is a screenshot of ABPrime but it is also the exact same.

Another option is to install uBlock Origin.
I personally use this b/c I find that it generally blocks everything I need it to right out of the box, no adjustments necessary.
Read these instructions on how to install:
How to Install uBlock Origin in Pale Moon 27
Try it and see if it works. :geek:

I second the suggestion to install ublock origin instead. It can more or less block everything you want plus its not as heavy as adblock.

Upon switching from FF to Pale Moon, I kept the uBlock extension I had been using in FF. It works flawlessly and just as effectively now in Pale Moon.

uBlock Origin and a good hosts file (Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts (be sure to back up first))

Code: Select all

This depends if you want the browser to handle calls or your OS. But, yes, you're right, there is an option to have uBlock use a 3rd party hosts file.
