I tried it with three other virtual machines: These Pale Moon installations have mostly the same extensions, as their base profiles were cloned. The machine without problems had not less extensions than the other two where the problem occurred.
The problematic installations had in common that they were not updated for some weeks, were just updated from PM 28.8.0 to 28.8.2.1 and after this got several extension-updates at the same time.

If someone else has the same problem:
The only solution is to delete uBlock Origin Updater 1.70 manually. Closing the visible tab and then closing Pale Moon (showing a blank page) or closing the invisible tab via tab list does not help; the phenomenon repeats as long as uBlock Origin Updater is present.

I guess I am also having a small issue; It updated but the Updater did not auto uninstall (see pic)
Can I just uninstall it manually?

Yes, it's safe to uninstall it manually, however I don't see in your screenshot that it was updated to 1.7.0, which uninstalls itself.

Perhaps you had some errors in the console after the upgrade? Please share them, if any.

Thanks for the reply, I'll do the manual uninstall.
As for the updater being 1.69 and not 1.70 I have no clue what happened..or didn't happen.
Here's the error console (all of it) FWIW..hope it helps.

I updated the self-destructing routine to make it more robust and fail-safe.

uBlock Origin Updater 1.7.0 removed itself on my system no problems. All it took was patience.

I always use Sandboxie and some parts of the browser are sandboxed. So I did see uBlock Origin was updated, but I don't think the updater was updated. So I launched PM without Sanboxie and right clicked the updater and checked for update. Once I did that the updater vanished like it should.

Yes, patience is a good thing; I had not yet manually uninstalled the updater and I took a look this morning and it had uninstalled itself!
*Its magic!
Thank you JustOff..great work

Yeah, many thanks for forking this fantastic extension. It saves me from seeing asinine Ads, it allows me to add customized lists and it blocks malware domains. Plus, blocking Ads can and will block the occasional malware laced Ad, too. I'd never surf the Internet without it.

Sorry, but you obviously messed up something. I didn't fork anything, I just as much as possible contribute to the support of the classic (legacy) version of uBlock Origin compatible with Pale Moon. And uBlock Origin Updater is (was) just part of this effort.
