NoScript 5.0.6...
Hello, I am a new user of Pale Moon and I will say that I am nothing short of impressed with it. It will definitely be my default browser from here on out.
I have a quick question regarding the latest version of NoScript. I have it installed in Pale Moon and it's working flawlessly, despite it being listed as incompatible on the addons site for Pale Moon. Why is that?

Welcome to the forum!
NoScript 5 use code Pale Moon doesnt support but the addon works and it have a blue indicator which stand for Pale Moon support, so its a false positiv on the addon site.

I've heard mixed reports about it.dark_moon wrote:Welcome to the forum!

Unless anyone can tell me that this works fully, as expected, with no caveats or "it mostly works except for this feature..." then it's incompatible.
The extension uses Embedded WebExtensions, which are not compatible with us. Contrary to popular belief, these are not "WebExtensions with an XUL compatibility layer" (as I've seen some mention previously), but are instead "XUL extensions mixed with WebExtensions".
Re: NoScript 5.0.6...
I'd say it works, using the latest 5.0.6 version. I haven't explored each and every feature provided, but for me it does what it is supposted to do. Using for a past few months. No issues or unexpected behaviour so far.Lootyhoof wrote:Unless anyone can tell me that this works fully, as expected, with no caveats or "it mostly works except for this feature..." then it's incompatible.
Re: NoScript 5.0.6...
I also use NoScript 5.0.6 and it works as expected (very well!).
Re: NoScript 5.0.6...
Then why is there a blue dot next to it in the Add-ons Manager? Also, a knowledgeable person in the NoScript forums says that NoScript version 5.x should still be compatible with PM . . .Lootyhoof wrote:

Re: NoScript 5.0.6...
I believe the blue dot appears when the developer adds an identifiier for PM in the install.rdf for the extension. The install.rdf for NoScript 5.0.6 contains the following entry for Pale Moon:
However, having the entry, and the resulting blue dot, does not equal 100% code compliance and compatibility.
Code: Select all

Re: NoScript 5.0.6...
This is good to know, but brings me to another problem...
The way the new versions are set up on AMO, means we won't receive updates, and new users don't know it's compatible based on that page (similar to my problem with PMkit add-ons wanting to host on AMO..).
I'll reach out to Giorgio and see if he's willing to help on that front.

Re: NoScript 5.0.6...
As luck would have it, you guys have your wish, and then some.
Giorgio has agreed to host his extensions with us. For now, you can find NoScript here:

Re: NoScript 5.0.6...
A big THANK YOU to Giorgio and Lootyhoof for making NoScript available for Pale Moon. Have used this extension since it was made available in Firefox and used it also on PM for a long time since it just works great. Just LOVE it!!! Not too long ago, in order not to lose this great extension in the future and afraid it wouldn't work anymore in Pale Moon, I did save the xpi in My Documents.
Again thank you!!
Again thank you!!
Re: NoScript 5.0.6...
Apologies for the late response, but I checked on various websites designed to check the functionality of JavaScript while using NoScript and it appears that it is, in fact, fully functional even when used within Pale Moon, which pleases me greatly. I love this browser and I hope you guys keep up the good work!
Re: NoScript 5.0.6...
Giorgio has FTP access to add new versions. It's not our responsibility to keep these up to date.
Re: NoScript 5.0.6...
Is there anyone who would be willing to contact Sig. Giorgio and ask him to keep the latest versions available at APMO? It caused a great deal of confusion and also system lock-ups, as described in this thread about problems at a German website. It would have saved people some grief if the updates had worked as expected.
In fact, I might be willing to do it, if someone could maybe give me some talking points? Or some help in wording so as not to offend?
