Neither ABLatitude nor ABPrime work in PM 27.2.1

Unread post by Lunix » 2017-03-27, 01:45

Neither one works at all. No ads are blocked, no custom filters are implemented, even though the icons appear in color in the status bar and all lists and filters are enabled.

I've tried both ABL and ABPrime, one at a time with the other one disabled so they don't conflict with each other. Nothing works. They both worked perfectly in PM 27.2.0. I've made no other changes to the browser except for upgrading to 27.2.1.

Can't reproduce here either. I'm running ABPrime on my system and my wife uses ABL on hers. Both work perfectly.

Manually forcing an update to EasyList fixed the problem in ABL. I'm not sure how that list could step on my custom filters, but everything works now. This idea came from an old thread I found where people were reverting to an earlier EasyList in order to fix a similar problem: viewtopic.php?f=46&t=6614&start=460

Based on this post: https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=6614&start=480#p103755,
the problem described in that older thread has cleared up since probably mid-January. You may have been using a copy of EasyList that was downloaded from the repository on Dec 04, 2016 or later, but before the problem got fixed by the EasyList authors.

(Though on reflection, that problem affected only cosmetic filtering.)

I updated EasyList from the most recent one I had which was from March 18 of this year. That list worked in PM 27.2.0 without issues, but ABL and ABPrime stopped working after upgrading to 27.2.1. That old thread I found gave me the idea to update EasyList manually then ABL worked again. Something in the March 18 list wasn't playing nicely with PM 27.2.1, whatever it might have been.

I can confirm this with ABL on PM 27.2.1 64-bit for Windows.

Edit: Added final sentence to second quote.

@hackerman1, Have you tried updating EasyList? For OP, that fixed it.

I reinstalled PM 27.2.1, and updated EasyList, but it did not help.

I noticed that on the webbsite where ABL doesn´t work, NoScript doesn´t automatically reload the tab after allowing (some of) the scripts.
So it looks like the problem also has something to do with NoScript not working properly.

What version of NoScript are you using? Versions 5.0+ aren't fully compatible with us due to having embedded WebExtensions code.
