Jetpack extension FlashDisable now supports Pale Moon

Unread post by rm118899 » 2017-03-07, 17:04

I emailed the developer of FlashDisable and got him to add support for Pale Moon.

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addo ... ions/1.2.1
https://github.com/klemens/ff-flashdisa ... tag/v1.2.1

This extension adds a toggle button that is basically a shortcut for Tools -> Add-ons -> Plugins -> (Adobe Flash drop down list) -- it saves several mouse clicks. It toggles between "Never Activate" and either "Ask to Activate" or "Always Activate," depending on the preference that is set in the extension's options menu (via Tools -> Add-ons).

The advantage to doing it this way instead of keeping it on "Ask to Activate" is that instead of getting a placeholder, Flash will appear to be uninstalled, allowing the website to serve alternative content like html5-style video. I rarely need Flash except for a couple of sites, so I just keep it off unless I'm on a site that requires it, in which case I just press the toggle button.

Thanks rm118899 and to the author, this is a cool extension. Although Plugins Toggler offers similar functionality for all plug-ins, I see how FlashDisable can be useful and even faster for Flash-toggling.

Great! Though it would be ideal if they could also host this on the Pale Moon Add-ons Site (or anywhere non-AMO, really), so that Pale Moon users can also get updates whenever they are available. The information for doing so is available here:

http://developer.palemoon.org/Add-ons:Site

I will add this as "fixed" to our Known Incompatiblities page. :)
