Unless it's sensitive content obviously, you should be sharing those links for others to try. No point in trying to figure it out on your own.

I'm also curious as these anecdotes keep popping up at places. Either that the ads show or even a warning about ad blocker. But, they're never accompanied by a screenshot.

Oh. Well yes, that makes sense.

Never had any ads on this channel.

In fact, I never saw a single add on Youtube for.. years I think!

This is a random video posted somewhere that consistently shows really long ads https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HghjR4wqtFk

No ads on these here. Most probably there's a problem with your configuration and combination of extensions, adblocker, filterlists.

Also, if you are using Firefox there's no point in troubleshooting here.

Why don't use Invidious?
some Invidious instances have stopped working a few months ago because of this issue

I do.
I have just tried in PM to prove a point (you're using FF, your argument is invalid). Right away, 1:30 min ad.
My filters are always up to date.

If you are on Windows, you might have got yourself infected by an adware. You better run a scan or something.

They have to be enabled first. You have two Built-in filters disabled. Those are crucial and ENABLED by default.

I'd first reset all uBO settings to default and start over, without disabling anything that's on by default.

What do you mean crucial? They certainly are not. Did you even check what they do? They are absolutely irrelevant for this. You clearly don't have any idea what are you talking about.
Bottom line is, I resetted all the filters several times in past, tried various combinations of them and it never made any difference.

The 'Quick fixes' one has YouTube as its main target and it was possibly even created with YouTube changes in mind. But ok, I'm done trying to convince you since you obviously know better. And you might want to look up 'crucial' in a dictionary.

I turned those two filter lists off and still couldn't get any ads. Maybe a log of XHR requests from someone with a problem from browser's developer tools' Network tab would reveal something. Looks like you can save them as HAR file, the file content appears to be JSON, so it's kinda readable, even though not as nice as displayed in the GUI.

Yes and it made exactly zero difference. I tried that before. Do you think I'm retarded?
Do you have any other enlightening suggestions for me?

All I can say is Firefox with exactly the same filters enabled is not showing me any ads now (it did when I posted my initial comment, after that I was enabling and disabling the same stuff over and over until it somehow started working or something - I have no idea!) and PM does.

I noticed something.
The uBlock filters – Quick fixes filter actually does something in Firefox, but not in PM. When I turn it off in Firefox, I do get ads on this video. Flipping it in PM makes no difference whatsoever. Also, curiously, with the filter enabled, I got playback error something something in PM after yesterday's update, and it took flipping that particular filter a few times until I got "at least" ads to show up.

edit:
It gets even more bizarre. I tried clean and brand new profile without Ublock, and didn't get any ad first, then it showed up when I refreshed it. I installed Ublock, and the ad is not showing regardless of state of the filter in question.
Youtube is also SO pathetically slow in PM (even in a brand new profile) I refuse to dig in this any further. Stupid thing lags the hell out of the entier browser and I only had two tabs open. I don't understand how you people can use Youtube with PM.

We can and do, minus the ads.

I'd rather not answer that.

I get no ads, neither with Pale Moon nor with Firefox. Video playback is smooth in both browsers.

What you could try to test:
- install Pale Moon Portable and set it to run always in private browsing mode (no site data and cookies)
- install uBlock Origin - not all built-in filters have to be mandatory active (e.g. I don't use the "Badware risks", "Link shorteners" and the "Quick fixes" lists)
- visit YT (without being logged-in) and see if you still get ads.

Perhaps give V3 a try?
Off-topic:
That userscript is closed source (the GitHub repo is empty), and the code is obfuscated and minified. For the video player, it runs a JS file from a remote server that can be changed at any time (whenever your browser cache is cleared or invalidates), and it makes a GET request to the developer's server on every page load to grab "news" alerts. Even more strangely, it has "genuine product" detection if the script is modified, and it tries to hide the domain it contacts using base64 with the atob() function. To top it off, it uses API keys controlled by the developer in order to work, and although you can supply your own API key for the Youtube Data API, the Youtube Innertube API key is still hardcoded.

The script can stop working at any time if the developer's server goes down or the developer's API keys are disabled or rate limited, and the developer can run new script code without notifying the user and without updating the script through normal means (the Greasemonkey updater). Assume at the very least you are giving the developer your IP address and browser info for every YouTube page you click on and that unknown JS code from the developer can be executed at any time. For this reason I modified the script to neuter the "DRM", rehosted the assets on my own domain and changed the API keys to ones that I personally control.

I briefly looked at vorapis and it didn't even work on my browser, period. YT would just go blank, so I tossed it out.
But given all those red flags indicated I'd suggest extreme caution using it as-is.
