X-notifier alternative?
One of the extensions I still can't find an alternative for transition is an email notifier...
I used Webmail / X-notifier until the dev shifted development for WE (which works better than the deprecated XUL version)
jeroen kept updating scripts in the forum and kept Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo working until recently (Gmail count is currently broken).
I found 2 forks:
X-Notifier reloaded -> Z-Notifier
I asked Loirooriol for a build specifically targeting PM (quite probably the wrong way...).
So it looks like this won't be officially targeting PM.
In the past I used an external program (Pop Peeper) but it was better some years agor... and I really liked it best integrated in the web browser
What are you currently using?
Is there any alternative targeting PM (Gmail+Yahoo+Hotmail ...)?

Re: X-notifier alternative?
Thanks for the suggestion but I'm really only looking for inbox notification (though I've kept all my historical emails and assigned them different usages)
Re: X-notifier alternative?
Given the level of bloat in webmail, a dedicated email client is the better way to go these days. Been nearly 15 years since I used Gmail Notifier for Firefox..back when I used Firefox.

Re: X-notifier alternative?
I appreciate all your educated suggestions but I'm really not looking for a fully featured email client.
Guess currently there is no alternative for X-Notifier
Thanks for the help

Re: X-notifier alternative?
Would pin the tab(s) to your webmail page(s) be an option?
As far as I remember it changes colour on new emails and if you hover the pointer it shows the number of new emails.

Re: X-notifier alternative?
Thanks for the suggestion.
Besides the clutter, if tabs are suspended I guess it does not work.
Email webpages are usually resource hungry.
Having Gmail + Yahoo + Outlook (Office 365) permanently open on PM keeps it at a quite hefty RAM usage.
The notifier checks every set seconds (in my case minutes), only beeps and shows a counter (and directly opens selected email on new tab on click).

Re: X-notifier alternative?
Fork it if the license permits or AT LEAST add it to the list on DPMO.
Re: X-notifier alternative?
Just a user / script kiddie (and not he JS kind).
Were I at a different point in life (college, no kids), maybe.
Currently I both don't have the knowledge nor time to learn it or maintain it.
The past 2 years have not been nice in that way (I'm a healthcare professional).
Time is precious and I understand why those who don't use these suggest their preferred alternatives.
Thanks for the input and work (both on PM and many of its core extensions)

Re: X-notifier alternative?
I think we have already blown "i am not a programmer" and "i am just a user" out of the water as reasons someone WON'T do something. You could add it to the list at the very LEAST.
Re: X-notifier alternative?
Forking Z-notifier seems to be the best match. Just needs rebranding and new skin/icon graphics. GPL v2 otherwise.
