According to my uBo logs, the following filters block Google Ads on Youtube:
- Lightswitch05's ads-and-tracking-extended
- Anudeep's Blacklist
- StevenBlack/hosts
- Dan Pollock’s hosts file
- MVPS HOSTS
- Lightswitch05's ads-and-tracking-extended

Are those the names of the filters? Doesn't look like something I can just copy+paste.

- Anudeep's Blacklist https://raw.githubusercontent.com/anudeepND/blacklist/master/adservers.txt
- StevenBlack's hosts https://raw.githubusercontent.com/StevenBlack/hosts/master/hosts
The last two are built in uBO.

Re: Best (CPU light) Adblocker?
Just add them from Filterlists, easier to add and it's a one stop shop for all filter subscriptions for all adblockers.

Re: Best (CPU light) Adblocker?
I will try to fix my ABL with these, cause it does not actually stop YT ads by default.
I hope I'm not actually doing it wrong.
(this did nothing, ads still play)

Re: Best (CPU light) Adblocker?
What a waste of resources to use all those lists to block only ads and sign-in pop-up in Youtube.
Too many lists inevitably slow down web browsing.
To prevent ads and sign-in pop-up in Youtube, the few rules I have inserted in this thread are sufficient.

Why would anyone want to listen to a member of Roytam1 and Fedor2's MSFN Hacker Group?

Re: Best (CPU light) Adblocker?
I'd gladly add another/different filter in ABL, if I knew what to add..... or where to add (I know next to nothing).
Re: Best (CPU light) Adblocker?
You do that under 'custom filters'. Use this guide, ABL uses the same syntax.

Why should forum members listen to me?
Because the rules described in the Ghacks article are not sufficient to stop the sign-in pop-up especially if the cookies are deleted when Pale Moon is exited or if we use CCleaner( or another cleaner) immediately afterwards.
As you can see, I rarely intervene, and I think only to help others.

RIP banned man.
Might as well post this screenshot. While I am sure ABL can be made to work (if I knew how), by default it pretty much does nothing (on YouTube).

Re: Best (CPU light) Adblocker?
After several days of non-stop ads on YT I decided the least worst course of action would be to reinstall UBO, and simply disable it everywhere but YT. Hopefully that will leave my CPU mostly fine. It is a shame modern websites are bloated in hopes users would just download moar RAM and upgrade their computers, and it is a shame my machine is 8 years old and was relatively underpowered even back then.
At least I learned that ABL is not very good, so that's something.

insert "for your use" here.KlarkKentThe3rd wrote: ↑2020-12-03, 19:58At least I learned that ABL is not very good, so that's something.
I use ABL every day, and it does a good job for my use.

Re: Best (CPU light) Adblocker?
I am sure if works for some people. It just did not work for me because I had no idea where to find extra filters, which ones to use, where to paste them, and how. At the same time, UBO works out of the box. It may consume more CPU, but I will deal with that for now.
Re: Best (CPU light) Adblocker?
Likewise ABPrime is sufficient for my use. Does that make it the right choice for everyone? Nope. I know half the users of any the Adblock Family hate ABPrime because they hated ABL 3.5. The other half hate not having complete adblocking before the browser window loads. The rest are Gorhill/Justoff sycophants who don't count in this equation. Or at all as far as I am concerned.
Re: Best (CPU light) Adblocker?
I will heartily second Tobin's comment about ABPrime. I used uBlockOrigin for a long time and thought it was pretty good - until 2020. I've never tried AdBlockLatitide, but after studying the "competing" descriptions on the AddOns site, I decided to try ABPrime - the main reason being that it just sounds and looks "simpler" and "cleaner" than either uBO or ABL. All I can say is that ABPrime is beautifully and wonderfully designed. Its cleanness and seeming simplicity don't seem to detract anything from how well it works (and if you make careful choices, which are simple and well explained, it works VERY well - at least on Linux). It's true that it makes for a slow start-up time and a bit slower shutdown time, but, to me at least, it's well worth every single second.

Re: Best (CPU light) Adblocker?
I just wish UBO had a "disable everywhere" option that does not actually turn off the add-on. Manually disabling everywhere BUT youtube works, but takes time.

well perhaps you should make that kind of suggestion here to the maker of the uBO instead of in this PM forum.
