Update to Moonscape Messenger: v1.1.0
  • Remove duplicate border from address book window
  • Don't use native appearance for mail toolbox
  • Hide compose toolbar splitter when using print preview
  • Include missing small icon style of the show conversation button
  • Include support for the Communicator Profile Manager
  • Fix inconsistent search icon size in the Preferences window
  • Fix missing calendar icon in the Preferences window (I went with a different approach in fixing this issue by excluding the calendar prefpane button from the rule instead)
Update options: GitHub releases, Interlink Add-ons Site, manually check for updates through the Add-ons Manager.

I've finally had the time to rewrite the Moonscape theme to use a common theme base in order to simplify maintenance across all my classic themes.

The latest pre-release version is now available here (compatible with Pale Moon, Interlink, and Ambassador):
https://github.com/FranklinDM/Moonscape ... g/v7.0.0a1

Please report any issues that you may find with this test release.

I noticed that Clientedge has been enabled in the latest update. Is there any way to disable it? It shows up when I go fullscreen on Youtube. Having it disabled when I go into fullscreen would be nice.

Thanks for this update FranklinDM. Do you foresee porting Moonscape to Borealis Navigator as well when it is fully released?

I would suggest waiting to 1.0 to start making themes because even though 0.9 will be funtional the chrome addresses will progressively change from version to version meaning themes will constantly bust until 1.0 is reached.

Unless he doesn't mind about keeping up.

Yes, support for Borealis Navigator is planned in the future once it reaches 1.0.

Hey FranklinDM, is there a Splash Screen for Interlink made for the Moonscape theme?

I also found this sound pack on the Web Archive if anyone is interested in adding Netscape sounds to Interlink or Pale Moon.

No plans at the moment.

---

The latest pre-release version, which supports Pale Moon, Interlink, and standalone Ambassador in a single XPI package is now available (v7.0.0b1): https://github.com/FranklinDM/Moonscape ... g/v7.0.0b1

This is the (final) test version before it gets released into the respective add-on sites. Please report any issues you encounter. There are a few noticeable changes in the newly-rewritten Moonscape theme, including "3D edges" around the content area, non-native styling for all controls, and (untested) support for Mac. If you are using subskins, the URLs have to be updated from chrome://browser/skin/moonscape to chrome://subskins/skin because they have been completely separated from the base theme.

What are subskins? Skins that depend on other skins? Are there any examples?

It's a way of customizing the theme using CSS @import rules, if the theme designer opts to include "alternate theme design stylesheet files" (which is the case with this theme), and is meant to be placed inside your userChrome.css in the old days or through a style-sheet manager (such as Stylem).

Here's a nice explainer about the concept, albeit outdated.
Off-topic:
This is also one of the reasons why I wanted to rewrite this theme, as FOXSCAPE is a huge "subskin" hacked into the old Simple Green theme.

Hey FranklinDM,

Any possibility that the icons for the Calendar and Tasks in Interlink be themed as well to go with the rest of the Moonscape theme? Right now they seem out of place.

Thanks for continually developing one of the best themes on the web.

Yep, this is planned and will be available in the near future, but it's not a priority at the moment.

Update to Moonscape: v7.0.0
  • Use a common theme base to simplify maintenance across all classic themes
  • Single XPI package for all applications
  • Restore missing close button in the undo pop-up of the new tab page
  • Fix new tab thumbnail appearance when using placeholders
  • Toolbar buttons in custom toolbars when in Icons and Text mode will now have their labels positioned beside their icons
  • Include 3D edges around the content area
  • (Untested) support for Mac OS
Update options: GitHub releases, APO, Interlink Add-ons, check for updates using the Add-ons Manager.

ATTENTION: I messed up initially with going for a separate install package for Interlink. With that said, all current users of Moonscape Messenger (Pale Moon users of the theme are not affected) should uninstall their copy of the theme and replace it with this one in order to receive further updates via the Add-ons Update Service (AUS). However, if you are using one of the recent test versions (7.0.0a1 and above), there is no need to do this. Sorry for the inconvenience!

To Baloo: You might have to update your Retro GUI Guide to point to the updated listing of the Moonscape theme for Interlink.

Thanks Franklin, I'll fix the guide to update to the cross-platform XPI add-on now.

The label for the bookmarks menu toolbar button is missing in version 7.0.0. Is there any way to get it back? I really want the bookmarks label as well as the icon.

I found the seurce of the problem, after much searching. It is in browser > browser.css. The line:
'toolbar:not(.toolbar-primary)[mode="icons"] #bookmarks-menu-button .toolbarbutton-text {
display: none !important;
}'
I commented it out, and the label is back.

Hi FranklinDM,

Will Moonscape eventually be rewritten for GTK3? I am using it with GTK3 in Interlink since my system no longer plays well with GTK2 themes really, but the theme looks kind of funky.

I'll see what I can do about this. How does the theme look like in GTK3?

I'm not experienced in the *nix side of the platform, and might be wrong somewhere, but I did some investigation on this and found that UXP uses the same color for the 3-D highlighted outer edge (ThreeDHighlight) and 3-D shadow inner edge (ThreeDShadow) for GTK3 and above, causing UI elements that rely on these to have the wrong color in several classic XFCE/GTK themes, such as Chicago95. The code for GTK2, on the other hand, handles this correctly.

You can temporarily workaround this issue by setting the following preference with the value:
ui.threedhighlight -> #fafafa
