Add-on stopped working: Forecastfox 2.2.4-pm
Until yesterday morning my Forecastfox 2.2.4-pm pseudostatic add-on for Pale Moon worked. Now on the status bar at the lower edge of the browser the label appears for my city and then the temperature, along with icons for current weather and future days and anticipated temperature. However, it's for yesterday at the temperature it showed yesterday morning, static.
It doesn't update anymore.
I noticed there was a new Pale Moon release (25.2.1 x86) and so have installed it with vain hope it would solve the problem, not earth shaking in itself. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium (32-bit).

There are several other posts on that board relating to the extension being abandonded, the API with Accuweather being at fault, etc.
With my connection routed through Tor, the weather info is dated (pulling from yesterday). If I remove the proxy/Tor connection, the data updates correctly. *shrug*

Thanks
Have been using the pseudo version but that has stopped updating now

Thanks for the responses.
I've switched over to Aniweather, another add on for FF which apparently works just fine with PM.

Re: Add-on stopped working: Forecastfox 2.2.4-pm
Also having problems with Forecastfox.
It has not *totally* stopped updating, but it's lagging behind AccuWeather "reality" by many hours (18 or so, I'd estimate).
And yes, the onset of this misbehavior of the Pseudo-static version roughly coincided with the latest PM update.
Edit: The behavior is weirder than I'd realized. It is updating and "un-updating." Sometimes it reverts clear back to Monday, then corrects to "today" (Thursday as I write this).

Re: Add-on stopped working: Forecastfox 2.2.4-pm
For me it happened before I updated Pale Moon. Updating the browser was what I did to try to fix it.
In the Google group posts someone said it was probably being done at their end over at Accuweather.

Re: Add-on stopped working: Forecastfox 2.2.4-pm
I also just checked the Google Group. Apparently whether or not it's working depends on the location one chooses. That explains *some* of the weird behavior of my installation. Mine cycles among three towns in the area in a 12-mile radius. It works for some and not others.
So... Yeah... I guess that suggests the problem is due to some change AccuWeather made.

Aniweather isn't working right either. The maps are for the wrong half of the country, when they load at all. Sometimes I just get a little gray pop-up announcement that "The data could not be loaded."Noratio wrote:Thanks for the responses.

If I bring up the right-click menu to access the Settings to try to fix it, I get this:
----------------
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.
<Error><Code>NoSuchKey</Code><Message>The specified key does not exist.</Message><Key>www/locale/en-US/aniweather.config11.html</Key><RequestId>8FA3DC2906B13B53</RequestId><HostId>8RkMVDg6RHV7WhM1JeKh/r8n3rB8l6U0yKQ5VbLDCTu5g7tq4YrpOXH43oX1z8uk</HostId></Error>

AFAIK, Aniweather does not make use of AccuWeather. I believe the forecast and current conditions come from The Weather Channel, while the maps come from NOAA.
Re: Add-on stopped working: Forecastfox 2.2.4-pm
Could you tell me if this happens on 25.1 like MAYBE it is the xbl binding sec thing.
Re: Add-on stopped working: Forecastfox 2.2.4-pm
Regarding Forecastfox, whatever the problem is, it probably is not Pale Moon. Firefox users are reporting the same weird symptoms, with FF versions from 20 to 35, all starting earlier this week. The "sync" is fine for some cities, but totally hosed for others.
Regarding Aniweather, it was fine until a day or two ago, so it was ok on PM 24.x up to PM 25.2.0. Weird that it barfed at the same time as the other.

Re: Add-on stopped working: Forecastfox 2.2.4-pm
This is very odd indeed. I just re-enabled it and am having the same issue. I really wish I knew what was causing it but basically Forecastfox is virtually abandoned. So without some quite intensive study on how it actually functions I can't really do anything. When I last looked it was a little more complex than most add-ons.
EDIT: It has to be something wrong with AccuWeather's redirection script. As when you click a day on the widget it goes to a script that redirects you.

Re: Add-on stopped working: Forecastfox 2.2.4-pm
Yes -- it was happening on Pale Moon 25.1 and so then I updated to 25.2 but it didn't fix it.
Re: Add-on stopped working: Forecastfox 2.2.4-pm
I am forced to agree that this is not a Pale Moon issue or an issue specifically with the Pseudo-Static but with ForecastFox/AccuWeather its self no matter what it runs under. Will keep an eye out if this gets resolved. For now unless something changes please limit your posts.NorrinRadd wrote:Regarding Forecastfox, whatever the problem is, it probably is not Pale Moon. Re: Add-on stopped working: Forecastfox 2.2.4-pm
I had the same issue (my 'real' location was frozen in time, other locations showed current info), it seems to be corrected this morning. I am not sure what happened, maybe Accuweather corrected something on their end?
For some reason this morning, I could not get to the Forecastfox options page unless I allowed the google-analytics script in NoScript. I generally do not allow that and have never had an issue with a webpage. I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not.

Someone at Google Groups has finally fixed the Firefox version.Matt A Tobin wrote:I am forced to agree that this is not a Pale Moon issue or an issue specifically with the Pseudo-Static but with ForecastFox/AccuWeather its self no matter what it runs under. Any chance we can get a Pale Moon Pseudo-Static version of this fixed Add-on?
Please note: As is, the version in this post WILL NOT function in Pale Moon (see Matt's post below of a new Pseudo-Static he's working on).

Re: Add-on stopped working: Forecastfox 2.2.4-pm
I do have it fixed based on his work but I am letting it sit to confirm it stays working before I push out an update.
Please note the version in the above post WILL NOT function in Pale Moon. A new Pseudo-Static will be pushed through Add-on Manager updates.
Also, this will be the last update to the Pseudo-Static under the Forecastfox brand as I do not own the name (neither does the person who created his own fixed variation for that matter) and since the original developers have abandoned it I shall be forking it under a new brand and name but other than that nothing significant will change.
You will also not have to do anything to your current installed version beyond update it.

Thank you, Tobin!!!
Re: Add-on stopped working: Forecastfox 2.2.4-pm
Thanks Matt, for your expedient reply & actions.
I edited my post to reflect your note.
Other than a language problem (that Oleksandr is working on), it looks very promising.
Fingers crossed that your Pseudo-Static stays working and can be pushed through Add-on Manager updates.
