The "Mozilla-only" aspect seems quite odd, given that the add-on was originally developed only for Chrome, not Mozilla-based, browsers. :?

Name: Customizable Shortcuts 0.6.2.1-signed
Type: Extension
Issue: After closing your Pale Moon session, the extension acts like it is disabled even when it is actually enabled
Cause: [unknown]
Workaround: Disable and then re-enabled the extension and it'll work perfectly...until the browser is closed, at which point you must repeat the process to activate the extension - it'll even remember any settings you've changed; alternatively you can re-install the extension to re-activate it.
AMO: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/customizable-shortcuts/

----------------

NOTE: Even though version 0.6.2.1-signed is supposedly not compatible with Pale Moon 25, it acts exactly the same as the last supposedly compatible version - 0.5.11.1.1-signed.

(for reference, the newest version, 0.9.8, doesn't work at all, but I believe said version was purely designed for Australis)

If it makes any difference, I contacted the developer regarding Pale Moon compatibility a month ago but got no response. Interestingly, that was before version 0.9.8 existed. However, it seems said developer is none other than a Mozilla employee...so that may have something to do with it.

DaJay42 wrote:Name: Furigana Inserter 2.12.1-signed
Type: Add-on
Issue: States incompatibility at install. If install is forced, core functionality is non-functional.
Workaround: None. Last pre-FF25 version (2.8) is no longer available for download.
AMO: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/furigana-inserter/ with an additional requirement at http://code.google.com/p/itadaki/
The old versions can still be found on the projects' Google Code page via Downloads -> Other downloads, then selecting "All downloads" from the drop-down box and clicking "Search":
https://code.google.com/p/itadaki/downl ... t?can=1&q=

...though I can't get 2.8 to work even when I install the HTML Ruby extension and the according Furigana dictionary.

So the page says that Privacy Badger was fixed, but with the new version, 1.0.0, the icon does not show up in the addon bar, making it impossible to configure or change what sites it's blocking on the fly like when it appeared down there. I've tried reinstalling and disabling and re-enabling, but no dice.

I've ask if they were going to continue support with us and they said they are willing to help, but if it's just an easy fix on our part then it should be forked by us and maintain. It should be easy as squarefractal did fork HTTPS Everywhere. Though I'm not sure because I haven't had a lot of experience in coding/programing. So yeah........

This is the most active bug issue, see here: https://github.com/EFForg/privacybadgerfirefox/issues/479. Now current would be issue #595, which is referenced in this one up above (active bug issue).

How do we report incompatible addons?

Unread post by Weboh » 2015-09-25, 02:50

Name: Personas Plus
Type: Extension
Issue: It is not loading at all. When I install it, I can't find the icon the status bar, the customize menu, or the tools menu. And the AMO page still has the "download" button and not the "installed" one (though it does show up as installed in about:addons).
Workaround: I assumed that the problem was that it was designed for post-Australis Firefox, but I got the same problem with the old versions of it too.

This is my very first post, so just want to briefly introduce myself: I'm a longtime FFer who made the switch to PM yesterday (x64 25.7.0). So far it's been a very nice breath of fresh air. I'm really grateful for this browser and the PM community.

As for this topic, here are the 6 extensions I use that aren't yet listed on the compatibility page. I've verified they all work fine (the way I've used them for years in FF). Only the first 2 required the workaround of an older rev.

Name: Mozilla Archive Format
Type: Extension
Issue: the latest official (3.1.0.1-signed) works fine
Workaround: (But disable updates because electrolysis has messed them up, as you'll see in the changelog for the latest beta 4.0b1 release. So this one's frozen for PM)
AMO: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addo ... 0.1-signed (last rev for PM)

Name: Color Toggle
Type: Extension
Issue: Latest (0.16.1-signed) broken
Workaround: Prior rev works fine
AMO: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addo ... 5.1-signed (working rev)

Name: Read Easily
Type: Extension
Issue: None, latest (1.0.9.1-signed) works fine
Workaround:
AMO: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/read-easily

Name: Enter Selects
Type: Extension
Issue: None, latest (9.1-signed) works fine
Workaround:
AMO: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/enter-selects

Name: Context Search (Note: different than Context Search X)
Type: Extension
Issue: None, latest (0.6.3.1-signed) works fine
Workaround:
AMO: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/context-search

Name: Download YouTube Videos as MP4
Type: Extension
Issue: None, latest (1.8.3.1-signed) works fine
Workaround:
AMO: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addo ... ad-youtube

And as a data point for some of the already-listed extensions, I have no problems with:
* TabMixPlus 0.4.1.9 (and I change many settings)
* CookieKeeper 1.8.1.5-signed
* several other officially working ones, both AMOs and new PM-exclusives. (It's great that all of these are listed on one page; I now have ABL and Finderbar Tweak as direct replacements for those FF stalwarts. And I used PM commander to tweak a few things to my liking. Plus I now have a couple new AMOs that I never knew existed.)

Only 1 extension doesn't work: EPUBReader (already listed. My workaround is simply use FF41 as an Epub reader plus ABL element finder)

Name: Privacy Badger 1.0-1.0.3
Type: Add-on
Issue: It used to partially work with v1.0-1.0.1 (missing icon), but now since the update of v1.0.2+, it's no longer installable and says, "Privacy Badger could not be installed because it is not compatible with Pale Moon 25.7.3." It's the same on their official download site.
Cause: No official support for Pale Moon; possibly our GUID and version number needs to be implemented in their install.rdf so installation and missing icon is fixed.
Workaround: install v2.6.1 (previous working version) from this thread or v1.0.1 from AMO, which gives you limited functionality, like the missing icon but still installable.
AMO: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/privacy-badger-firefox/and https://www.eff.org/privacybadger

All reports as of 2015-12-09 have been added to the Incompatibility page and as such has been updated. Relevant side-discussion has been moved to that thread.

Thanks Antonius32!

Sorry, new to all this. You can probably scratch the post i sent, as i installed v24 version https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/session-manager/versions/0.8.1.7, with no problems, so no need to tweak the xpi. :)

Thanks for reporting this. I will add Session Manager to the list of add-ons with known compatibility issues, with the addition that version 0.8.1.7 does work with Pale Moon.

Name: Clippings 5.0
Type: Extension
Issue: Won't install
Cause: Says it's "Not available for Firefox 24.9"
Workaround: Version 4.1.2.1-signed from the complete version history will install. Version 5.0b2 will also install, but doesn't have the green button.

Name: Download Status Bar
Type: Extension
Issue: It's not handling downloads. Native FF behavior takes over instead. Still enabled as far as PM is concerned. The download bar is supposed to appear, but nothing happens. Turning the settings on and off makes the bar show up, but it still doesn't show the downloads, and it just stays open.
Cause: It was working as of the most previous update; now running Version: 26.0.0 (x64).

Name: DragIt (formerly Drag de Go)
Type: Extension
Issue: Latest version (3.2.3.1) not compatible with Pale Moon 25.8.1 (Firefox 24.9).
Last Compatible version is 3.2.1.1-signed https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/dragit-formerly-drag-de-go/versions/?page=1#version-3.2.1.1-signed
One of the changes listed for version 3.2.1.1 is "Text gestures didn't work anymore", but unfortunately it didn't fix the entire problem. Text gestures for initiating searches still don't work.

Name: Redirector
Type: Extension
Issue: Nothing works in 3.0.4 because they are using newer APIs
Workaround: Use 2.9.3 of course. This will become the norm. Soon only the (thousands of useful) dead addons will work with Pale Moon if you choose the latest version.
