Because Mozilla deleted all the XUL, XPCOM und NPAPI-Add-ons from their website, I offer 24 useful add-ons for palemoon on my website https://www.trapp.co.at/Webbrowser/Palemoon-Add-ons/ which where originally developed for firefox. Maybe they can be offered in the extension section. They all work perfectly with Palemoon 28.2.2

The Pale Moon Add-ons Site will only host add-ons that specifically target Pale Moon. If you want to see these add-ons on APO, you (or someone) will need to port or fork each of them.

Since these are Firefox legacy add-ons and not Pale Moon specific add-ons, they would have a better place on my site.

If any of these are not yet listed on http://legacycollector.org/firefox-addons/ and are unaltered (and still pass signature validation in Firefox), then I'll be most happy to add them there. Send me a private message with the ones missing and I'll get them listed (if their license allows it).

Also be aware that some licenses forbid this kind of sharing.
You should check which license those add-ons were placed under, and remove any that forbid distribution.
The same reasoning applies if someone wants to change them to explicitly support Pale Moon. The license might forbid it, and thus can't be added to the Pale Moon add-ons site.

Gmail™ Notifier (restartless) 0.4.4.1-signed works normally

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately that URL is missing some text, and does not work.

Here is the correct link:

Ummm... regarding Download Manager (S3). Someone has forked the original author's work and released an XUL compatible extension that is up to date available on GitHub.

https://www.reddit.com/r/XUL_for_Quantu ... anager_s3/

https://github.com/xiaoxiaoflood/firefo ... S3Download

I'm currently running the current version from GitHub (4.14.65.2018.12.30-xiao)... no problems so far :). Tough I would like to thank happyniko for making these extensions available even though Mozilla dropped them from their site ;).

PS: I had to reregister just to post this . My previous account (the same username as this one, you could check) was not a 0 post account. The account was obviously deleted. I don't know how this happened, maybe it was a mistake, but I don't think it's been inactive for too long (I don't remember the last time I logged in the PM forum, but I doubt it's longer than a year or two).

I'm just pointing this out in case this was due to a DB crash or some sort of an error (clicking the wrong button at some point :P).

@Nigaikaze: Well, that seems a bit drastic :wtf:. One year of inactivity resulting in an account deletion :??

I also run a forum and I've only purged accounts once... and only 0 post accounts of users that haven't logged in for 5 years.

Just a thought... the administration might want to rethink this policy.

They've been doing this every year for as long as I can remember. But I guess it doesn't hurt to ask. But looking at the reason why they do it (in the link provided) I would doubt they change their practice.

Not logging in for over a year is a pretty good indicator that you're not actively using the forum. If you're not actively using the forum, then keeping your personal information stored in our database is an unnecessary privacy issue. Overall we don't want to keep such data for more than a year on ANY of our servers.

If people think it's too short for forum accounts, then this policy can be changed; shall we make it 2 years, then? Or 3? if longer then I guess we have to have a way for people to delete their own accounts...

@Moonchild: Personal data? What personal data? Usernames? Don't mean anything most of the time, and even if they do, there is almost now way you can prove that some person is using that username. IP logs? That could be just about anyone with access to an ISP with dynamic IPs, not to mention VPNs and the likes... anyone can be anyone (IP wise) nowadays.

OK, lets imagine I took a "hiatus" from the forum for... oh let's say a year... why? Well, no particular reason, just felt like it, i.e. didn't feel like visiting the forum for an undefined time period. Or maybe I was ill or a member of my family was ill or some other real life problem. Now, lets also say that I was a regular contributor before any of this happened, wrote on the forum regularly, thoughts, ideas, maybe even contributed in some way. Would you still delete my account if I haven't logged in for a year?

As I mentioned previously, I use a 5 year cycle on my forum. 0 posters that haven't logged in for 5 years... yeah, pretty sure they're not gonna show up again. On the other hand, users with posts deleted on yearly cycle... kinda rigorous IMO.

Proof that I'm not the only one that did that (reregister) is this post.

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=17722#p130067

Look at the post below the one I linked. It's obviously the same user that had to reregister yesterday just to post that... and, no surprise, one of the last times he posted was, oh, almost exactly a year ago.

*pops head out of server room* In such an situation we can reassign old posts back to a user. It is a bit of a PITA though but it is rare enough that it doesn't hardly come up.

Just be sure next time you take a coma to login with in a year or request your posts be reassigned.

You're obviously not budging on this... OK.

Could you at least consider purging 0 posters, not everyone that hasn't logged in for a year?

Not just that, but also combinations of emails and password hashes. Those do mean something, most of the time, especially when humans have a tendency to use the same logins across many sites.

one year is a heck of a long time.. there were 6 major browser updates in the past year. if you keep your cookies/login for the forum and visit just once for any of those 6 releases, you're golden. hardly demanding of one's efforts..

I did say the policy can be changed if people think it's too short.
GigaWatt wrote:Could you at least consider purging 0 posters, not everyone that hasn't logged in for a year?
No. What would be the point? Most users who register on the forum DO make at least 1 post -- otherwise they might just as well visit as a guest since there are no real benefits to registered users just for reading posts. And doing it that way would keep users who have made at least 1 post indefinitely which is really not what we want to do.

As for "what private data": your forum profile has a record of your verified e-mail address, a password hash, any other information you have volunteered, a record of your registration IP and post date/time and IPs. That is quite the profile of your activities. We don't want to store that information longer than we have to, and a regular purge of accounts is the best way to only keep things stored that are relevant.

I often logon because I am either following some topic, or to see if there is anything new that might affect me, but don't post. So I can see that 1 year is perhaps too short. But no term will satisfy all parties.

Perhaps there is an alternative that meets both the user needs and Pale Moon. Since Pale Moon has a list of all the folks that are about to exceed, or have exceeded the 1 year window, perhaps an Email explaining the policy, and that to continue, they need to post. Maybe even have a topic just for that purpose, since no one wants a lot of threads that contain no question or issue. And then follow up the Email you sent 90 days later. Then if no posting or response, delete the person.

You don't need to post, just logging in is fine.
But this thread isn't the place to discuss this topic.

Thanks for the clarification on posting vs. logging in. My suggestion still stands as a possible solution.

I agree that this is 'off topic', but this tread is where all the related 'off topic' posts are, so that is why I posted it here.
