Sanitize window opens transparent sometimes
Since version 33 (or maybe even 32), Pale Moon sometimes opens the sanitize window to clear private data transparent. Why is that? Why only sometimes?
It is not a huge problem, since I found a quick way to make the window turn opaque, but I cannot help wondering.

I think I looked into this before and couldn't reproduce it.
What Mac model, MacOS and exact steps you take to get this to happen?

Re: Sanitize window opens transparent sometimes
I have an iMac using MacOS 13.6.4. Since the child window does not open transparent every time, I do not know what triggers it. Even when I have visited the same sites, sometimes the transparency occurs and sometimes it does not. I found a quick way to get the window to appear. With my third-party themes, I set something in the window to change when hovered. The changed item is not the only thing to appear. The whole window appears.

I know next to nothing about macs, but have you confirmed this happens when you're not using a third-party theme?

Re: Sanitize window opens transparent sometimes
I just tried that with the default theme. The window opened transparent sometimes, then quickly became opaque. I do not see how the third-party theme could be entirely to blame, since the problem is not consistent. Why would that happen with all ten of my third-party themes? Why would that make any sense?RealityRipple wrote: ↑2024-04-03, 21:53I know next to nothing about macs, but have you confirmed this happens when you're not using a third-party theme?
Incidentally, I have the same problem (and solution) with SeaMonkey, but more frequently.

When you say "Sanitize window" what exactly are you referring to?

I mean the window that clears private data: "Clear Recent History". The themes call the stylesheet that controls its appearance "sanitizeDialog.css".

That is what I figured, but I cannot reproduce it being transparent. I've opened that window a hundred times on both a MacPro on 13.6 and 14.4... as well as a MacBook Pro running 14.4. What video does your iMac have?

Re: Sanitize window opens transparent sometimes
This kind of repaint issue tends to be driver related; I do think the sanitize window does a few rapid updates right after opening (filling in some controls) which may ask for updates to the driver in rapid succession, and that causing it to just drop the paint requests on the floor altogether.

Re: Sanitize window opens transparent sometimes
Why would the problem not happen all the time? Why would it occur more frequently with SeaMonkey? The graphics driver is AMD Radeon Pro 5500 XT 8 GB, and the computer was purchased in 2021. If it is the graphics driver at fault, I would expect the problem to be consistent, but it is not. Why would that happen only with recent versions of SeaMonkey and Pale Moon? Why would it not happen with Vivaldi and LibreWolf? Those also can open a window to allow clearing of private data.

I'm replacing my nVidia GTX 770 in my Mac Pro with an AMD RX 580 in the next few days.... I'll see if I can reproduce it after I make that change.

Still can't reproduce this with the RX 580...
