Re: Updater Missing
Mac builds do not ship with automatic updates enabled. You will need to manually update the browser.
Re: Updater Missing
You can subscribe to the "Announcements" section of the forum. The link is at the bottom of the page. Then make sure, under "Edit notification options" in the User Control Panel, that you have "Email" checked in the appropriate spot (the line that reads "Someone creates a topic in a forum to which you are subscribed"). When Moonchild makes the announcement of a new version in the Announcements section of the forum, you will then receive an email.
Re: Updater Missing
First, thanks ron_1 for the tip re. using Announcements.
After that, a little puzzled, as I thought that Basilisk was a separate browser unto itself, not contained (browser within browser?) within Pale Moon, as it now appears to be. Had initially found Pale Moon at this MacRumors topic. Not a problem, happy to use it for Mac (10.13.) however it comes. Looks like there's a fair amount of history behind this. i.e., Basilisk is Under New Management viewtopic.php?f=61&p=230756#p230734

Re: Updater Missing
Why do you think that? Because Basilisk-dev gives an answer? I can't answer every question myself, personally -- I greatly appreciate anyone else with knowledge providing support.

Re: Updater Missing
Yes, either way, don't really care, but since Basilisk-Dev replied, sending me to the second link - did you read it? I think I have a legitimate right to be confused, no?

"...Basilisk no longer developed by the Pale Moon team...."

Re: Updater Missing
No, there's no reason to be confused. Just because Basilisk-dev replies to your question doesn't mean that Basilisk is somehow the same as Pale Moon. This is a community forum, anyone can reply, including people who aren't at all involved with development of Pale Moon.

Re: Updater Missing
Realizing that anyone can answer a question, maybe Basilisk-Dev will decide to post back to explain the reason for giving that link, in which, as I understand it, he announces that he has purchased the rights to Basilisk from Moonchild, and that Basilisk is under new management. I think that's where my confusion is coming from.
As I said, whether it's PM or Basilisk it doesn't really matter to me.

Re: Updater Missing
I'm not sure what you mean by this. The same people who develop Pale Moon also used to develop Basilisk. Now it is developed by myself instead.
We share a common platform called UXP that both browsers build upon, but they are distinct and separate applications.
That is my forum signature. You can read more about signatures here if you are not familiar with the concept of signatures on messages: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Signature_blockKYU23 wrote: ↑2024-09-29, 23:17Realizing that anyone can answer a question, maybe Basilisk-Dev will decide to post back to explain the reason for giving that link, in which, as I understand it, he announces that he has purchased the rights to Basilisk from Moonchild, and that Basilisk is under new management. Re: Updater Missing
Thanks for the quick reply. Don't want to drag this out any longer. I was obviously mistaken, but by posting that link in the context of my question that the Updater was missing, it seemed that Basilisk, you, were taking responsibility for that. And that's why I thought Basilisk was somehow located within PM.
Re: Updater Missing
I think you are still not getting the concept of a signature. He didn't "post" it per se; that's a part of his signature. It appears in ALL of his posts. Think of it as signing your name at the end of a letter. You can set a signature in the User Control Panel section (the link is in the menu of your user name in the upper right of the screen), Profile tab. You can also set your preference to not display others' signatures, in the Board preferences tab, Edit display options section. (Click on the image to make it bigger.)
Re: Updater Missing
Aha, got it, basically plan old signature with (not so plain old) link.
