Issue with 32.2 on Big Sur (11.7.6)

Unread post by asimperson » 2023-05-18, 07:12

I'm running Pale Moon on an Intel Mac running 11.7.6. After installing the 32.2 binary, launching the application from Finder results in it opening quickly and then closing. I then tried to run it from the terminal and I get this output:

Code: Select all

[huygens MacOS]$ pwd
/Applications/Pale Moon.app/Contents/MacOS
[huygens MacOS]$ ./palemoon --safe-mode

I had a similar report from a user running Catalina (10.15) on my forum, I no longer have Catalina easily bootable, but I do have Big Sur, so I booted Big Sur downloaded it from the Pale Moon site, installed and ran it without issue.

So I am a bit perplexed by what is happening, but if you can get the crash report and send it to me privately, that would be great.

I am attempting to replicate this crash on every MacOS I can, but so far no luck: 10.7, 10.10, 10.11, 11, 12, 13.

Edit: I'm going to have to assume it has to do with some add-on in use, since I have not been able to replicate the crash on 6 versions of MacOS and 6 different Macs. Can you test with a fresh profile?

Reposting this from another thread:

Well on the off chance it is the packaging changes, I did a rebuild with the old packaging... I had been using different packaging on ARM to help the notarization process, in the latest version I used the new packaging on Intel too... so this build uses the old packaging:

Let me know if this one fixes the problem for those affected.

Hello, I use Catalina and I also had a bug with the official version. The system warned that it could not review it and when trying to open it with the right button, it would also close again. The following appears in the console:

When reinstalling the previous version, when starting it, it offers me to delete the profile and I accepted. Apart from reinstalling my language (Spanish) and the extension to change it, I have nothing else now.

I have tried the version linked in your message and it works correctly for me again. No problem. What's more, this message is created with her :-)

P.S. Mechanically translated message since I don't speak English, I apologize if I haven't expressed myself correctly.

I sent you the crash report through the e-mail function on the forum. I also tested this version and it works.

I had the same issue with PM 32.2.0 on macOS Mojave 10.14.6 - It just crashes on opening. This package here fixed that issue and PM 32.2 now opens without any issues and works perfectly. Thanks!
