Tobin,

Has the source been updated? It's showing that the last update was 21 days ago. Unless I'm reading it wrong.

I must not have pushed it for the upstream changes in 25.3.1 after I built the binaries.. I will soon..

Please do not continue to post about the repo I offer no support for the PM4XP source code or repo only the generated binaries.

Is PM4XP not subject to the MPL?

Why yes it is.

MPL satisfied.

As an aside, it may not seem like much to transform and make it into being XP compatible again.. But the work went in learning where to make the alterations and testing them and dozens of hours of compile time and testing JUST to get the original Pale Moon for Windows XP 64bit fully operational.

Every version also gets hours of testing both 32bit and 64bit for every release including installation, removal, automatic updating. This all happens every time there is a new release even if it is a minor/sec release. Additionally more work went into it during the v25 development cycle to not only reverse those changes that made it not build under xp32 but to make it build again under xp64 basically needing to redo it all again. After that the normal round of testing went in and with cooperation with Moonchild we even found the most safest defaults that we could set for XP users and even fixed a long standing issue with the Plugin Container exe using the wrong subsystem version which was incorporated back into main-line.

Do not underestimate the undertaking this has been. I have been glad to do it but I will only be responsible to users that use Binary Outcast compiled binaries. I have satisfied all other requirements by all licenses and agreements. I have even gone out of my way to supply a public repo when all I had to do to satisfy MPL was to post the actual changes to covered code I have made.. those listed above.

So.. sorry for not pushing it up sooner.. It was an oversight which was corrected within a reasonable amount of time.

WARNING: You may be served an incompatible update!

Warning: You may be served an incompatible update when going from Pale Moon for Windows XP 25.4.0 to 25.4.1

Due to this I have suspended Automatic Updates for Pale Moon for Windows XP. You are affected if you updated yesterday or this morning.

UPDATE: I have re-enabled Automatic updates for 25.4.1. However, PLEASE make sure you are getting the proper update. If something goes wrong or if you are in doubt, please download the full installer instead. But the issue has been fixed in 25.4.1.

Only those on PM4XP 25.4.0 are affected.

Since an update to resolve an unrelated issue is currently being built. I would ask that you pay CLOSE attention when you are served your next update.

When you check for updates it will normally say Pale Moon for Windows XP 25.4.1 (x86 or x64). If it JUST says Pale Moon 25.4.1 (x86 or x64) then DO NOT install that update as it will be installing Main-Line which will NOT run on Windows XP.

If you encounter this you will have to go to http://binaryoutcast.com/projects/pm4xp/ and download the correct version of the update.

TECHNICAL INFO:

There was a recent change for Main-Line Pale Moon to serve update manifest over https which means the pref was changed for where Pale Moon looks for it. I inadvertently picked up that change which overwrote my specific setting in the PM4XP 25.4.0 update.

You can tell this by looking in about:config at app.update.url setting as it is pointed to the main-line update server and not BinOC's. Unfortently, you cannot change this setting as it will be ignored. The only way to resolve the issue is to download the full installer for the next update (or previous version located here: http://repository.binaryoutcast.com/projects/pm4xp/25.3.2/installer/)

Binary Outcast apologizes for the obvious inconvenience of this.

Why?

Why do you follow the mainstream way? There's rebels out there. Despite some may think, Pale Moon is a "rebel" project too.

Supporting older platforms could attract mad gurus that could optimize the code. I see it an advantage too.

Security updates and Microsoft? There's no safe harbor, you must be kidding! You don't need Microsoft and there's lots of crazy people using old systems and very skilled, to the point of patching old Operating Systems. Look at MSFN community. They even have the KernelEx in order to patch the Windows 98 kernel to support newer software and drivers!

What's wrong with obsolete systems? Some people are unable to afford new computers, but they need to access the web using latest technologies. They can still be useful.

This could incentive that code gets more optimized and portable, too!
