28.13 disabled all "not designed for PaleMoon" extensions

For contributed third party builds not necessarily configured like the main product.
e.g. AVX builds, SSE builds, Pandora builds.

28.13 disabled all "not designed for PaleMoon" extensions

Post by Harkonnen » 2020-09-05, 06:27

I updated from 28.12 to 28.13, and all addons that had "not designed for PaleMoon" warning are now disabled with no way to reenable.
I looked at release notes and dont see "this update kills your addons" in it, so whats going on?

I'm not seeing that. In 28.13, non-native extensions do show a prominent warning, but they remain enabled and can still be installed.

On the other hand, the current unstable version does disable non-native extensions.
Are you sure that it's not the unstable version where you see this?

Or have you been sharing a profile between the release and unstable versions?

Hmm.. upon further inspection, it appears that 28.13 downloaded as tar.xz from download page doesnt do that, but a one installed from Steven Pusser debian repo does. So its a problem with his builds...

Can confirm that Ubuntu 18.04 build of palemoon 28.13.00 from Steven Pusser's repo permanently disables all legacy add-ons.

This is too drastic a move for a xx.13 level release surely, so possibly a bug / build bug?

Either way it removes all my functioning legacy web debug tools. Hopefully a forthcoming fix will re-enable ...

Yeah this would be a build configuration mistake on Steven's behalf.
Also moving this to a better board.

btw, his finally forced me to do this, and it appears all my addons except one works Moon Tester Tool, so its not nearly as scary as it appeared first :) And the non-working one is not really important and have alternatives.

Can confirm, my Mac build is suffering from the lack of Stallman.

Let's just say I find it terribly disappointing that nobody took note of Tobin's announcement weeks ago to pay attention to build instructions because they will change now and then, and that 3rd party builders on 2 targets are having these issues.

Version for Ubuntu 18.04 updated (to 28.13.0-2) and issue fixed. No further action required on my part, after install previously disabled legacy add-ons were fully re-enabled, with warnings.

Thanks for the quick response from Steven Pusser.
