Pale Moon IA-32

Unread post by Mercury » 2016-04-15, 00:58

Pale Moon for IA-32 is now available here. 8-)

In short, this is a build of Pale Moon designed for computers with 32-bit x86 processors lacking the SSE instruction set. These include the Pentium II and earlier processors from Intel, and the first-model Duron (Morgan core), Athlon, and earlier processors from AMD.

Unless your CPU is 15 years or older, this variant of Pale Moon should not interest you.

Following up from a series of posts in the Pale Moon SSE thread, the thread you're reading now is the official location for any questions, reports, and comments about Pale Moon for IA-32.

Please be aware that, unlike the Pale Moon SSE builds, builds for IA-32 may be late or sporadic. They may be discontinued at any time without warning.

v26.3.3.IA32 released

Unread post by Mercury » 2016-07-02, 22:26

Version 26.3.3.IA32 Available Here

Known Issue:
I forgot the change the version string between builds; thus the About dialog box identifies this release as the SSE version. This may be considered a cosmetic bug that will be fixed in the next release. Sorry, but I'm not redoing the whole build just for this.
The IA32 version can still be distinguished from the SSE version by navigating to "about:buildconfig" and checking for the presence of the string "arch:IA32".

Check my completely un-edited post. I'm sure you just misread. ;)

Hey Mercury, thank you for the new version. I'll check it out sometime tomorrow since I may go out today. :)

I wonder, why don't you build yourself some automated tool that'd take care of replacing strings, changing compiler options and so on? A short script in AutoHotkey, for example (my language of choice), or AutoIt or something similar could help a lot, avoiding such (minor) oversights as the SSE / IA32 string issue above. ;)

No automated forum posting, please.

Sorry, you must have misunderstood - I was referring to an offline tool as an aid for Mercury's development environment, a tool that would perform search & replace in source files as needed before compiling the SSE and IA32 builds. Nothing to do with automated forum posting or similar.

I truly don't feel like learning a new tool right now. I appreciate the intention, though.

And enjoy the browser!

Thank you and sorry for the lack of proper feedback, I haven't fired up the Duron machine in a while. Got all the downloads though.

PM27 dropped XP support, so I don't think anybody could build it for XP.

Not from me. I'm retired as a build contributor.

PM IA-32 ends with version 26.5.0, unless someone else wants to take up the work.

That's alright. I finally broke down and got Firefox 50 plus Classic Theme Restorer. It's pretty darned close to the pre-Australis version. So, thanks for the effort, but I have to move on.

XP rules! ;-)
