How do I force an install of an extension? (Arctic fox)
I'm trying to install a theme that should work, however Arctic fox has a different version scheme, so it's technically too new for the extension, how would I force it to install?

Perhaps you intended to contact Arctic Fox support, instead of posting here?

Thought this would be moved to the "application support" board, was asking here since arctic fox is pretty close to pale moon and they don't really have any ways to to get support besides opening a github issue. might as well open an issue there.

For an application we don't build or publish?...macbookkitty wrote: ↑2025-06-14, 02:57Thought this would be moved to the "application support" board

Unfortunately for you, application support doesn't work that way. We don't develop, build, publish or support Arctic Fox. Just because it's another "pretty close" in terms of underlying technology browser, doesn't mean we know how it was built, configured, or otherwise behaves. You can only get support from the people who are actually publishing Arctic Fox for Arctic Fox problems, especially when it deals with theme compatibility (which depends very much on their front-end/UI code).macbookkitty wrote: ↑2025-06-14, 02:57was asking here since arctic fox is pretty close to pale moon
That's potentially a problem, but not something we can do anything about. If that is what they chose as their support platform though, then that is what you must use.macbookkitty wrote: ↑2025-06-14, 02:57they don't really have any ways to to get support besides opening a github issue.
It's pretty much pointless. The most support you could get here is possibly having one of our community members who happens to run and be familiar with Arctic Fox being able to help. But that might be less than likely - I don't think many in our community use it, to begin with. This forum is for Pale Moon (and Basilisk in its dedicated board) primarily. Other applications that might build on our platform generally require you to contact them through their own dedicated channels.

My answer to the question would be the same information as applies to classic Firefox that used XPIs.
In other words, the answer must already exist on possibly archived Firefox forums.

With themes it is more complicated than with regular extensions, because if something in theme doesn't match UI, it will break potentially rendering application unusable until you remove theme manually. This is why themes have strict compatibility check always enabled.
