How can these work if i run the 64-bit build? Isn't the Firefox addons 32-bit from the beginning or does those run in a virtual mode?

Only extension type add-ons that have binary code could present an issue with x64 bit browsers. However, that is a small minority. But if you mean plugins then that is a different can of worms.
