Single Chip VGA Driver (Webcam)

Unread post by steviem1 » 2014-09-12, 07:42

I have an old external USB Webcam for which I managed to locate a driver via the internet when using Win XP. However I'm having no such joy finding one for Win 7. Unfortunately when I plug it in, although the Webcam is recognised there is no identifying information in Device Manager to work with. I suspect there may not be any driver for use in Win 7, does anyone out there know of one or where I might be able to find one?

Like i said there is very limited info. but on the Webcam it states 'TCM 234282' - nothing else. When plugged into USB port, Device Manager reports it as 'Single Chip VGA' - no other identifying info.

I found 2 but didn't know if they work. It seems the company is "Tschibo"

So i upload the 2 at virustotal.com and here the scans:
mimiUSBnotebookCamera.exe: 0 / 53 scanner found any malware.

Webcam.zip: 1 / 55 scanner found malware so this can be a false positiv but check it.

Many thanks for that dark_moon, I will let you know If it works.

Edit: Unfortunately it didn't work, not surprising really - very old driver, but thanks all the same.

This is just a shot in the dark, but have you tried this driver at the link below for your old TC 234282 external webcam? The specs say it's for XP, Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8.

Thanks for the link Night Wing but the download is for Driver Scanner Software which gives you a free scan but then you have to register and pay for the Pro version in order to download any drivers. It does find a VGA single chip driver, but on further research it appears it only supported as far as Win XP, so all very misleading at best. I will continue my search but I'm not holding my breath.
