What homepage do you use for your browser?
I frankly like to use
Down for Everyone or Just Me? It's a nice shortcut if I want to find out whether my favorite websites are having server/domain problems.
What about you guys?

Mine is the Pale Moon start page
http://start.palemoon.org -- not surprising, probably

I use a blank page and use the bookmarks side panel to go from there to whichever site I want to visit. I see no reason to load a site that I don't necessarily want to visit. I would use some kind of search engine otherwise, but the search box in the toolbar serves that purpose without having to load an entire page for it.

Below is an attachment to my Pesonalized Home Start Page on My Way. It's what I see when I turn on my computer and connect to the internet every morning. You'll have to click on the image to see a larger and clearer picture of it.
BTW, the part which is being shown is not really personal so secrecy isn't a concern for me. Of course, the things in the Reminders module does change.

Homepage here is
about:superstart, since I've adopted the
Super Start add-on. Before it was a simple background for
about-newtab (which here is disabled). As for
about:home, I never call it.

Those two Google ads are the only two ads on the entire page. It's a free site and this how My Way remains free. There are no advertisements anywhere else. If I could place them at the very bottom of the page, I would, but alas, there isn't any way to do that. I guess Google wanted those ads at the very top to be seen. To remain free, you know what they say, "Sometimes you have to dance with the devil".
I've been using the My Way site for the past 13 years. I have news modules which you can't see. The colors of the page, headers and text were my own choices since these colors are easy on my eyes for me to see things.
BTW, did you notice near the top right corner of my page how long it took the page to be brought up from a "cold start"? Just a fraction of a second (0.05).

My Way does look nice, and quickly rendered indeed. You are right concerning the opportunity of advertizement when it's the site's survival together with one's interest/commitment to that site. I tend to be sometimes excessive about anti-advertizement, it's a true debate on which perhaps most of us have an opinion (sometimes in progress), maybe one day will we have that debate here, who knows?
Meanwhile, I'll be leading to MyWay.com and have a look. Perhaps I'll eventually reconsider the home page idea.

My Way has two addresses. Use the "second" one.
First Address =
http://www.myway.com
Second Address =

I'd like to try setting up MyWay, but for the past 2 days registration is down. Hoping they get it working.

I noticed that since I hadn't been able to get into the email account I have with them for the last 2 days. But, I just checked my MyWay email and it's working again so the Registration process might also be working.
BTW, MyWay has a free sister portal named Excite. But, it has much more advertisement on it. This is what separates MyWay from Excite. I also have an email account with Excite too. I use the Excite email account as a "burner email account" when companies want my email address so they can send me spam email everyday. The Excite portal is customizable too.
http://www.excite.com
I'll see if I can capture a screen shot of it and give you an idea what Excite looks like. The screen shot will be of my own customized page.

This is my screen shot of Excite using Pale Moon. The background is called "Particle Board" which is one of the categories Excite provides. You'll have to click on the attachment to get a bigger and clearer picture of it.

The first address is a generic page with a two column layout. The second address has a three column layout (at least it does on my computer) and it's more pleasing to look at.

If anyone is a fan of RSS feed readers
Netvibes has been a superior dashboard / homepage replacement after the redesign of My.Yahoo last year effectively caused functional demise. Not used as a home page as much as one of two persistent tabs at PM start-up. There's a VIP subscription at an insane rate of $499/mo, but the free version is more than adequate to add from thousands of feeds, apps / widgets, flexible tabbed page layouts, themes, personalized background imagery, with a split app / reader interface. Oh, and no ads. Worth looking into, IMO.
