Inappropriate content on Youtube homepage

Unread post by tor000 » 2017-12-10, 14:06

In the recent times, when I'm entering Youtube, in the website homepage, there are tons of videos with Inappropriate content (Mostly porno/sexual or similar) on their thumbnails, most of them with Arabic titles.
Have anyone other encountered this disturbing phenomenon in the Youtube homepage?

After reading your post, I opened a tab and went to the main YouTube home page site. There are no pornographic thumbnails anywhere on the page. I had to scroll a long ways down the page looking at every thumbnail until I reached the bottom of the page. The page I accessed on that tab is in the link below.

BTW, I'm using a linux distro and not Windows.

I switched over to my windows hard drive running 64 bit Windows 7 in this tower computer and went to the main YouTube website home page. I scrolled all the way from the top of the page to the bottom of the page. And again, there are no pornographic thumbnails on that page when I viewed it. Same YouTube address too.

Those thumbnails on that page are not considered pornographic by YouTube. And I don't consider them pornographic either. If you don't like those thumbnails which you think are pornographic, you need to complain to YouTube. This is not a Pale Moon bug if this is what you're driving at.

What YouTube shows on the home page is largely dependent on what interest/browsing profile they have for your account (if you're logged in to Google) or what past browsing behavior there has been from your IP or immediate locale if they don't have a profile for you. I.e.: it's more likely to get presented with content not matching your preferences if you're browsing through a public proxy or similar.

Instructional videos and music videos with scantly-clad women are not considered generally inappropriate by YouTube's rules.

Either way, Pale Moon doesn't control what YouTube decides to serve you on their homepage. If it's a problem, complain to YouTube, as Night Wing said; I don't think they will do much about it though, so alternatively make sure you are logged in and build a profile for them to use under your account by using YT with only for you acceptable content being viewed.

Use my suggestion. It might actually work, you know? Alternatively, you can use a vetted website with only moderated content instead of YouTube.

A suggestion: Usually You Tube checks my IP and determines the country where I live (Mexico). Then I get lots of soccer, rat kids, actress scandals and politics videos that I just won't want to see. Then I scroll down to the end of the page and change my country to: World/ALL or just USA. Then I get other type of suggested videos way better than the first ones that are "appropriate" for my country.
