Question about exporting bookmarks

Unread post by faithbuilders » 2017-11-09, 20:39

I am just wondering is it possible to export just one (1) folder from your bookmarks, or do I have to export all my bookmarks then after importing it, delete the ones I do not wont. That feels a little redundant to me.

Thank you.

I don't believe there is a way to selectively export bookmarks from Firefox (or Pale Moon for that matter).

If you're feeling savvy, you could go in and edit the bookmarks.html file exported from Firefox. It is not recommended, but it is theoretically doable.

It's doable to remove everything else but that 1 bookmarks folder from an exported .html file, but some editors modify the html-code and the question is what you want to do with it then.
If you simply (re-)import it, it replaces all existing bookmarks.
Another method that once worked for me was just copy that folder into the bookmarks manager of another opened browser with no bookmarks (I used FF back then) and save that bookmarks file. It might only have the other default bookmarks in it.

Thank you all, the copy bookmarks thing might work, if I am using the same computer. But I want to transfer one folder of bookmarks from my laptop to my desktop.

Copy folder paste into text editor (not notepad) and save as html. Use flash drive to move to the other browser. Copy file and paste. Works for me.

Sorry it no longer works that way. Been at least 5 years since I did that. I tried it again about 2 hours ago and forgot to post about it.
The only way I found was to open the html file in a text editor and click each link individually and save the pages as they open.
If the browser your trying to save to is the default app.
