Personally, I always run a custom install, and make sure to remove everyting but the drivers themselves and the PhysX software.
..but even then, the setup tries to connect to the internet like crazy!

The picture shows all the processes that I had to block with my firewall during installation, and after running the 'LED Visualizer' to turn off the damn leds that lit up my cabinet like a Christmas tree!
The sneaky install process also triggers, and tries to connect through, Windows PowerShell now:
