Ok, so I worked out all the bugs I was having yesterday and the way I fixed the language issue was to first make sure that US English was the system wide setting.
I then uninstalled all other languages besides this one. I then also made sure my keyboard was US English also and then restarted the system.

After that it was all well and I even was able to figure out the Captcha thing.

So my first impression of this is very good. With the exception of the small language hick-ups it was a smooth run.
I have had no issues with any of the settings or programs so far and have been working on getting my new Pale Moon 27.2 set up on it.

One thing I did notice is that even though they put Pale Moon on the system, it is not the default browser. Nor is it in the quick start bar.

Instead they have Chromium. Not a big deal as I simply started Pale Moon and set it as the default and then removed the Chromium Icon and replaced it
with Pale Moon.

Over all, this is a smooth system and I really like it. Like I said before, this is the first time since Linux Mint 11 that my sound card would actually work.
All other systems would not allow rear headphone output, only front.

So good going guys and hopefully you can smooth out the language transition.

And you got to know, I spent a whole year going through over 20 different distro's and after that year I stuck with XP. This may be the first time I actually
get a chance to change out.

Thank you.

A real quick question, do you know if there is a way to edit the programs on the dock at the left of the screen. Or to make new ones or move it?

Thanks

Hello Handyman!

[Edit]: Great, that you found the solutions by yourself.

I always wonder how much time we spend to make english Release-Notes and First-Steps-manuals
and to give a note about EVERYTHING on our blog - and how less time a lot of users spend just to read it ;) :

http://mayastudio.tumblr.com/bugs

Maybe our english is not the best, but i think everybody could follow these steps easy!

We are a team of three people and please understand that we could not give 1:1-support in forums, as we are represented in many of them.
But we are sure, that EVRYBODY is able to install and configure QS64 right,

- if you just little experienced with Ubuntu/Linux Mint
- if you read our manuals carefully!

That's all!

So let me help you with your "issues":

1. your first problems with the language-settings is explained in First-Steps, Release-Notes and Blog:

- just choose your right language and layout during install
- After install you have to apply your settings in control-center (languages, keyboard) once again!
- It was always recommend NOT to choose pw-login and to use AUTO-LOGIN during install

After install you can deactivate auto-login and choosing pw-login instead! (this step is not necesarry for your problems but prevents that there is just the default LM-login-screen available after install!
Note: the default LM-login-screen (mintX) is the only one recommend for touchscreens

IF you choose a different language during install and change this again after install, THAN you will have a little problem (s. bug 173-sx-03) , because you have to change the layout deep in system! But this is a typical and known Ubuntu/Linux Mint-bug that you can prevent by just choosing the right language AND layout during install AND to apply this system-wide in control-center after install!

Or to solve this by following our steps described in all our manuals and blog!

Also i can't repeat your problems with keyboard-layout as we build Qiana Studio in english by default.
So it has to be first starting in english!

It's so funny: If i install it on a german layout-PC than it comes in english by default and i have to apply language and layout-settings after install as described before, just to have it all in german! And this is just, because we decided to offer QS64 in english by default, as our project was becoming more international and users from Spain, Greece, France, Island, Russia, Japan and South-America were asking for this (because first releases came in german by default)!

But now you write something about german layouts- that i cannot repeat on my machines: QS64 comes in english if you reboot first time after install (doesn't matter which language you choosed during install) and EVRYBODY has to apply his/her language AND layout-settings once after install system-wide AGAIN!!!!

If you know this procedure- it's sooo easy and just recognize all the time that you save to have a system with mostly every application you need!

So i think this "issue" should be no really problem for nobody!

We put some language-packs for arabia, europe and southamerika into too, to make it possible to switch languages while you are offline, because in some countrys not everybody gots (fast) internet.

So everybody has to be happy! ;)

2. The other "problems" with nvidia-and soundcard-settings (maybe keyboard-layout too!?) just belongs to the way you used QS64:

As i understood you, you first tried it on an usb-stick (live-system) WITHOUT an extra persistence-volume to save settings!

Like it is described in our First-Steps/Release-Notes and Blog no live-system is able to save settings and comes resettet after reboot!
This is common with all other Linux-distributions.

3. Problems with Palemoon and pictures or capture-codes are not known and repeatable on our machines!
Maybe it belongs to your nvidia-driver and settings-problems or that you maybe installed some things more (like you wrote)!?

Qiana Studio 17.3 Xi comes with three browsers pre-installed:

Chromium, Palemoon and Midori!

Just choose your favourite default-browser in control-center/Preferred-applications settings!

So you see that most of your problems are just a part of understanding things right and NOT an error in our system.

We just want to please you and following users to take time to install Qiana Studio and to read the release-notes and our bug-report carefully,
- like we took over 6 month (and some month of testing) to keep QS64 really stable and working and to give a good documentation
about all important things around our system.

Everybody will find the Release-Notes/First-Steps in home-folder and README-Folder!
Actuall informations around Qiana Studio you find on our little blog:
http://mayastudio.tumblr.com/64bit
specially: http://mayastudio.tumblr.com/bugs

Don't get this words wrong and don't feel it too much personal.

But it has to be said, because we get many @mails or support-questions in forums and don't have capacities or interests in satisfying this.

We just want to spend time in our project, making music and enjoying coming summer after spending sooo much time to our little distro.

Because we think it's great and usable - we make it reachable for everybody, but give just limited support.

I hope you will understand this.

Also BIG THANKS for your feedback and that you like QStudio64.

Have Fun - Be Creative.

A real quick question, do you know if there is a way to edit the programs on the dock at the left of the screen. Or to make new ones or move it?
- If you start a program it shines in plank-dock: rightclick on its icon and just choose "stayin in dock"
- Move (or delete) programms while drag n'drop them
- Configure settings of plank-dock while right-clicking at the end (or top) of the dock
(it's a little tricky and just shines if you really choosing the right point!)

Thank you chalee, great post and very informative. I'm sorry that I did not see the release notes when downloading. But I did set the language to US English when setting up for the first time.

Goofy stuff happens. It's a great build and you have to know that coming from me that's a big deal.

As Darth Vader said once, Impressive, very impressive. ;)

I hope you guys have a great summer, you deserve it.

I am continuing to learn and will get better at it.

Thank you for the tips on the dock. I will play with it.

Thank's for understanding and your great praises.

It's a pleasure and awesome to know that some people all around the world like and use it.

if just some people make music and art with it - the work was worthy.

Also we love and use it too.
