Pages stop rendering, only fixed by restart

Firstly, I fully understand that PM4A is no longer supported. I'm wondering if anyone else has run into the same issue, and if they have a solution.
Since upgrading to Android 5 "Lollipop" Pale Moon has been misbehaving a bit. I'm not sure exactly what triggers it, but sometimes when I open a new tab it won't render, it will just be pure white (even when the throbber has finished loading). Then if I switch back to an old tab it will appear the same and I'll have to restart the browser.
I understand that there were issues regarding lollipop and this is partly why PM4A was discontinued, but this is the only problem I'm having. Anyone know a work around?

Today this bothered me enough to install Firefox, but it scrolled laggily even on the forum homepage which put me off. My phone isn't exactly high end, but Pale Moon has always scrolled nicely even on busy pages so that was just disappointing.
