So, it appears we have a double whammo!
We can longer sync + no compatible Firefox addons for PM Android ?

You have to activate firefox compat mode (aka, including firefox in user agent string) in about:config with general.useragent.compatMode.firefox to install addons from AMO
Set it to true instead of false

Phew! Thanks a bunch Supernova!

I encountered the same issue. Instead of using the work-around posted above, I just followed linked to the developer's web site and downloaded from there. Yep, it's more steps, but for me it was somehow more satisfying and my hope is that the developers' web sites record my header information and note that PM users are installing their ad-ons.

This thread should become a "sticky".
Hope sync issue is resolved soon.

One other option if you want to have compatibility mode off is to add a site specific override for AMO.
Here's what I'm using:
name: general.useragent.override.addons.mozilla.org
value: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:28.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/28.0 (Pale Moon)
