PM - Two things

Unread post by justmix4 » 2016-05-12, 10:22

Hello everyone, this is my first post and I would like to say hello. On my old PC PM is my main browser, is great and I would recommend it to all my friends. For some time I trying to use it on Android, but it bothered me some visual errors that I would like to report.

1.
Look at the screenshots you will understand what I mean.
It does not look very nice. So it looks like all of the pages that I use.

2.
This page is not displayed correctly on PM for Android (look screenshot).
For comparison, Firefox Mobile - looks good.

Greetings and I hope you to do something about it.

I'm sorry for my terrible English, but this is not my native language.. Best regards.

Welcome to the forum!

#1: This is because at the top is the place for ads. You block it with your bluehell firewall addon, but not in a good way. Try the uBlock addon.

#2: What exactly is the problem with the menu?

#1
It happened on uBlock (Adguard and ABL, AdAway same).

#2
Visit this page to see for yourself how it should look, the difference is visible. For example, Firefox Mobile or Opera display SG correctly, but on PM the site is ruined. This green Sign in button is too huge, Text in other areas too.

The PM home page looks fine on my Galaxy Tab2 7 and on my S4:

The other site looks similar to what you're seeing:

It pains me to say it, and I wish it wasn't so.
..but when it comes to Android, Opera really is in a class of its own:

It just works extremely well.

Opera Mobile and Opera Mini are both very good browsers, I agree, but my primary remains PM4A simply because I'm able to keep it in sync with my desktop versions.

Actually, I was refering to the full version.
Considering Opera's recent change in ownership and all, I've been trying to find a good replacement for this browser on my father's Android tablet, but without any luck.

Is Java mandatory to develop for Android? What about using Lua + XUL for the GUI on all platforms?

Yes, because Fennec is written in Java
What about using Lua + XUL for the GUI on all platforms?
If you want to redesign the application from scratch...

Oh, not redesign the application. Just a naive idea, maybe it can simplify the codebase and make it more portable. I have no damn idea, just wanted someone punch me to reality in order to make me learn and tune my mind again. I'm sorry

That's what I don't like of the current situation. Fennec is like s small cousin of Firefox.

Isn't possible to avoid to use Java code as much as possible and go full ARM/X86/MIPS/(arethereothers?) native binaries?

Why can't there be a full Pale Moon for Android and other mobile/embedded operating systems (Tizen?)? Can't user interfaces become automatically generated/synthetized and avoid this crap?
