Unread post by docgwen » 2015-08-02, 01:51

It is time to start the move from windows to linux for me. When I switch to linux is there an easy way to import my bookmarks and profiles from windows (xp and win 7) into palemoon for linux?

For bookmarks, simply go to Bookmarks >> Organize Bookmarks, click Import and Backup, select backup, then save the file (somewhere where it won't get erased during the Linux install). After installing PM on Linux, go back to Bookmarks >> Organize Bookmarks, click Import and Backup, select Restore, then browse to and select your backed up bookmarks.

From Windows to Linux you can simply copy your profile, the location is different in both OSs but the profile is exactly the same. You only might get problems with extensions that are not compatible (often themeing stuff) and extensions that store paths (can usually be adjusted). Copying stuff such as places.sqlite or key3.db is never a problem. For Firefox you find a list of essential or interesting files here http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_ ... efox#Files, it's helpful whan you want to start a new profile.
