Can't install addons or themes

I am running Pale Moon 25.5.0 on Linux.
When I try to add themes such as Compact or addons such as bluhell firewall or no script, I get the following message:
"could not be installed because Pale Moon cannot modify the needed file".
I have installed these successfully in the past.
Please help with this problem.

It seems you have some problem with the file permissions in your profile.

Try to have a look at the permission of the directory "extensions" in ~/.moonchild productions/pale moon/random_string and in general of the files and directories there: they should be all readable and writable (and accessible, i.e., with "x", for directories) to your user.

I rebooted Linux and now it works OK.
