ebay login crash

Post by Dinsdake » 2020-02-18, 16:43

28.8.3 (32 bit) slackware 14.1
About 4 revs back (sorry, I did not record what version I was on when this started), being on the ebay login page crashes (closes) Palemoon.
This has persisted through all upgrades since.
This started on a version that was working fine, so there is no upgrade issue.
I run no plug-ins or any other accessories/software related to the browser
I run the binary as it comes from the auto download function. I don't compile/install.
On the ebay login page, I don't have to type anything. Just wait for about 5-10 seconds, and Palemoon closes.
I have not seen any issue with browsing any other page offered on ebay.

My wife has an eBay account. She was on it earlier this morning and the eBay login page didn't crash her linux Pale Moon using the 28.8.3 version. Also, she has never had a problem with the eBay login page since she has been using linux Pale Moon.

As of earlier this morning, her laptop computer is using 64 bit linux Pale Moon 28.8.3 running in 64 bit linux Mint 19.3 (Tricia) Xfce. The only addons my wife and I use are NoSquint and uBlock Origin. The eBay site sees the Pale Moon user agent as Firefox Compatibility.

Yeah, I figured if this was a real problem it would already be all over this site.
Thanks for your response. I guess I've got some troubleshooting to do. No idea how to approach this.

Have you tried an new clean profile with no addons installed and just with Pale Moon's default settings?

So I wiped out my PALEMOON dir, and download the latest tar. I made no config changes.
It still crashes on the ebay login page.
What's funny is that the URL line still remembers all(?) of the URLs I've ever typed in. I did not restore bookmarks.
Where is that data kept?

Where is that data kept?
In the ".moonchild productions/pale moon" directory. The spaces are for real. There are separate subdirectories for each profile. If you have multiple profiles, are you sure you're invoking the right one?
There's a right way
There's a wrong way
And then there's my way

A little more info: The .moonchild productions folder is in your home folder. Files / folders that begin with a " . " are hidden. Once in your home folder, press Ctrl + H to reveal them (press again to hide).

Have you tried logging in with a brand new clean profile?
