TennisTV and Palemoon 28.8.2.1: unable to play HTML5 video

This is what I am using currently:

*HP Laptop (AMD x64)
*Ubuntu 19.10
*Palemoon 28.8.2.1 x64

On TennisTV.com I am unable to play any live HTML5 video streams or replays. I just get a black screen in either case and three flashing
dots that indicate it is supposed to be loading the video, but nothing ever appears.
YouTube works fine. (Same problem in Windows 10 x64 with same version of Pale Moon, so this does not seem to be a Linux specific problem).

HTML5 video playback on TennisTV works fine in other browsers though, so I am wondering if this is an issue with the site or if there is a problem with
Pale Moon that can be fixed.

Yes, I do have ffmpeg and libavcodec installed and they are the latest versions.

Any suggestions and ideas?

Try to use Firefox and disable DRM. Do the videos still play?
If not: DRM is needed to do that. Pale Moon does not support DRM and will not.

I followed your suggestion and disabled DRM support in Firefox, and the HTML5 videos on TennisTV still played.
So it does not seem to be a DRM issue. The videos play in both Chrome and Firefox but not in Pale Moon.
Considering HTML5 video playback works fine on YouTube, there seems to be something wrong with either TennisTV.com or
Pale Moon that is preventing the videos from playing.
In case you are wondering, yes, the MSE, MSE for MP4 and MSE for WebM options are all enabled in the Pale Moon settings.
I also tried disabling hardware acceleration, and setting the user agent mode to both Gecko and Firefox compatibility,
and none of that helped. I have my Adblock extension disabled on TennisTV.com, so that is not the issue either.

What I can find on the Net indicates that ttv pay streaming site does indeed use DRM. Firefox may still be using the libwidevine binary it previously downloaded into your profile, so the way to really test that is to try and play ttv in a new FF profile that never had the chance to download the DRM binaries.

According to the site's Help, videos in the Features section can be watched without a subscription:
Tennis TV Help wrote:Some content, such as daily highlights, features, hot shots and post-match interviews, are available without a subscription on Tennis TV – check out our FEATURES CHANNEL to find the various subscription-free tennis videos.

I don't have a subscription to Tennis TV, but the video in "Features" did play for me in Firefox 68 (Win 7) using a brand new profile without DRM. In current Pale Moon the same video didn't play, there was the black screen with "loading dots" as described by OP.

Not working in PM.
Works in SeaMonkey 2.53.1. (Many times if broken in PM, also broken in SM, but not the case here.)

https://www.tennistv.com/videos/rotterd ... highlights

Note you can right-click the "video" & open it "directly" into a tab, & that too fails in PM.
(That "direct" link is not "transferable".)

I see polyfills...js in there?

Maybe SeaMonkey 2.53.1 is based on Fx 56. BTW, the vid plays in Waterfox classic.

The mozregression range is exactly the same as here. The fix is already in the unstable and will be included in Pale Moon 29 release.
